It's kind of crazy how they mixed this record.  The low end is so damn thick and rich, which is not something that you hear on a lot of records from the sixties.

One week from now I'll be on my way to Wacken Festival in Germany. So, I am going to a song from each Wacken I've been to everday to celebrate. :)

Choice for now? It's a hard choice. I've settled for these two:

From 2007, Saxon. Great place to start methinks.

And why not also kick off with some other rock legends. Dio + Tony Iommi = fuck yeah. Heaven and Hell 2009.

One of Nas' greatest talents is, I think hitting on topics that were like right there but that other hip-hop cats missed for whatever reason.  I mean, I would think that the non-ex-disparaging break-up track would be something that would have occurred to someone a long time ago but apparently it only occurred to Nasir:

"You screaming at them racist cops in Miami was probably the highlight of my life like, ha, yo look at my wife."

Also:

"And all I seen was suckers, cowards, under they breath saying 'why did Nas trust her?' But look at yourself.  Speak louder, bruh.  You live with your baby moms and scared to make an honest woman out of her and make her your bride.  Fake pimps, you ain't even a lie.  At least I can say I tried plus enjoyed the ride..."

Nas deaded you niggas, son!

I'm sorry.  I'm on my fan boy shit.  I like this dude entirely too much.

Next 2 Wacken tracks?

2007:
I feel like Blind Guardian. Can sometimes be annoying on a recording when a band gets the audience to sing (as usually the recording doesn't pick it up), but they do a good job on this one.

And 2009?

Keeping a folk theme going, lets go for Korpiklaani. These guys are lots of fun. Was I drunk? Who on earth doesn't listen to this band drunk? Of course I was.

If anyone is going to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics on Friday, note that:
Quote
Dance act duo Underworld have been appointed music directors for the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, organisers have announced.

Rick Smith and Karl Hyde will work with artistic director Danny Boyle and will be responsible for overseeing the music in the three-hour ceremony on 27 July.

Underworld are fab. I hope they do a good job...

Son.  This whole album is so damn official.  I feel like I'm knocking it more than I would otherwise as almost a middle finger to everyone that's unfortunate enough to know me personally that's 5 or more years younger than me.  This whole album is some grown man rap.  One of my friends in particular was like the first person to make me feel old as shit when she described California Love as a song she heard when she was "a little kid."  Still, she was also the first girl to make me feel mad sexy by messing with my neck tie when we used to date though....so there's that.

Yes, Jon Lord, died last week.

I loved Deep Purple; saw them in '71, at their best. RIP Jon.

and this instrumental is sublime:

Yes, we were all Deep Purple fans.

This isn't close to that type of music, but I like it.

I know alot of bluegrass is gospel, but I like these guys.

Quote
Jeffrey's Hell
Huntin’s  awful hard, if you ain’t got a dog.
Jeffrey’s was the best I've heard tell.
One night out chasin’ coons, under a full moon.
He lost him up the holler by the drill.
Jeffrey told his wife, honey please don’t cry.
You know I know these woods like no one can.
I’ll find that dog tonight, or go to hell trying.
But she never held him in her arms again.

See that lamp burning bright.  Is there another night?
Listen close and you can hear him yell.
Keep your lamp turned low.  There’s not much more to go.
As he’d walk another night in Jeffrey’s hell.

Jeffrey and his boy, set off up the woods.
But the only trail they had was what they’d made.
In the lone and the pines, there ain’t never been a sign,
Of them or the dog that caused their fate.
Now a hundred years have past since Jeffrey lost his dog
I’ve never seen him there but I’ve heard tell.
If you’re out chasin’ coons, under a full moon.
You’ll see that poor old lamp and hear him well.

I've tried and failed to break UK rap to US audiences for what seems like all my life (really since 2004 or so).  This is one where I have to say that it's got to be the tempo that's preventing US audiences from enjoying it.  The ignorance levels are perfect.  Perfect.  Although, I have to wonder about an artist that has a video like this that makes him appear to be in on the joke of how astoundingly ignorant his music is.

Also, I'm surprised that no one's come up with a gif of dude with the Guy Fawkes mask, picking his hair out.  That's the illest shit ever.
