I'd like to see this "activism" section get more traffic. Davedave was right about one thing: if you want change you have to work to make it happen, because it isn't going to happen if we just sit around and shoot down the occasional theists who stray in here from CARM (as fun as that can be sometimes)
So in that spirit, I'd like to start a topic with a quote from SherB.
The concepts that only those who believe in them have honor or support the troops or want to fight the evil islam are part and parcel of good salesmanship. If you want to sell a product, you get the mark saying "yes." Yes I believe in honor, yes I think muslims are evil terrorists, yes I think democrats are socialist nazis who are weak on terror and can't defend the country, yes I'll vote for someone who can protect me and think for me.
What a great point to remember. Maybe one way to battle creeping god-belief is to find ways to get the marks saying "yes".
I'd be happy if we could get our schools to start teaching real science again. Yes I believe in observation and hypothesis testing as a way to discover the truth. Yes I think all the gadgets science has given me are wonderful. Yes I take antibiotics to help fight an infection, and yes I finish the entire dose so the germs don't have a chance to evo... woops heh.
