WWGHA? For Dummies
« on: January 11, 2010, 10:01:57 PM »
[1]Why won't God heal amputees? His first point is based on the fact that all amputees pray for their amputated limbs to grow back (not true), which is basically crazy because no matter how much anestesia they're on at the time, they know they aren't going to sprout a new leg or arm. However, many amputees pray to God to give them a renewed ability to walk, or to be able to recieve prostethics, which 99% of the time happens. I can tell you that's what I'd be praying for if my leg got blown off. Second of all, if you heard of a man who had prayed to God and spontaneously regenerated a leg... Come on, free will 101.

[2]Why are there so many starving people in this world? Many of these people have not recieved the Word, and are of yet to come to know Jesus. Not to mention that the adults in many of these regions are guilty of the majority sin, which as the Bible clearly lays out, passes onto the next generation. If you look anywhere in, say, Sudan, where there are missionaries there is food. Because missionaries (Christians, oh snap, is that an arguement!?), who are the only ones praying, bring them the food!

[3]Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible? Innocent? That's debatable. Athiests think they're innocent, but I know that half of the porn sites in the world claim to have innocent-looking girls on them, which attracts customers (often athiests :o). Second, God didn't write the Bible, people did. If these people thought that these 'innocents' were in fact guilty, they killed them, and more often than not said it was a divine decision.

[4]Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense? Who came up with science? Hint;not the apostles.

[5]Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery in the Bible? Who said he was? The people who wrote the Bible were, and if they were slaves, they were obviously meant to be slaves. (Part of the plan, remember?)

[6]Why do bad things happen to good people? As the guy in the video so adequately proves himself wrong by saying, bad things happen at the same statistical rates to everyone. Often bad things are the best way to test someone, and to mature them in Christ, because beyond Christ himself, noone who is truly with the Lord has had a wonderfully easy life.

[7]Why didn't any of Jesus' miracles leave any evidence? Uhh the Bible  is evidence. And the Dead Sea scrolls. And the fact that latter Roman society (and thus modern society) was built upon the fact that Jesus lived and changed the world. i.e. B.C./A.D.

[8]How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you? Well first of all he has to quite a few people in history, and second thats free will again. Not to mention he knows that if I ran around saying that Jesus appeared to me people would call me crazy.

[9]Why would Jesus want you to eat his body and drink His blood? This is an analogy. Even stupid athiests know that.

[10]Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians? Because Christians can be corrupted like any other person, and because someone proffesses to be Christian does not mean they walk in the ways God wants them to.

Doctors do the work so their prayers are answered right?

God doesn't make people starve to death, he allows them to starve the death. Dont quote the Old Testament to me, I firmly believe that much of the Old Testament was written for the good of the people in power.

There were babies, and they need to die, plain and simple. Their parents and the rest of the world were in sin (except Noah) and "The fathers sins shall be passed onto the son"

Also at the end of the video, the guy says that if you look at the questions from an Athiest's perspective they become more reasonable. Well yes and no, they become more logical, but less true.
Check this out from my perspective:

[1]Why wont God heal amputees? Because it is within God's plan that they are amputees, and He has a purpose for leaving them that way.

[2]Why are there so many starving people in the world? Because this is also within God's plan. This also serves as a test of many people's spirits, to see the few who will go on mission trips, or donate money to help these children.

[3]Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible? Because first of all, it was in his plan for them to die, and second of all, we Don't know if the people who wrote the Bible just invented that or not, so it isn't a pliable argument either way.

And so on

4) my super heros are super cool and did not write their own book

5) godsaves thinks slavery is ok, because they were MEANT to be slaves, also doesn't realize that giving instructions on how to beat slaves is not behavior of someone who disagrees with slavery

6) god makes bad things happen to you for a test, kinda like the nazis did to the jews, except they were gassed instead of burned

7) the bible is the word of god because the bible says so.

2) god, who is ultimatly powerful and can do anything likes starving people as a test, and so he can use food as a bribe (see my snidley whiplash comment)

3) I cant trust anything in the bible because someone could have wrote it just for kicks so I'll just ignore it because thats not what MY god would do ( you know unless it is something I think he would do, also see my snidley whiplash comment)

Again and again I see these kinds of posts, and they seem to MISS the point of the argument of WWGHA: The failure to heal the amputees is an EXPLICIT failure of PROMISES written in the bible. THUS, the promises in the bible are FALSE, and so the bible's contents do not represent any real god. If the bible doesn't represent a real god, then christianity is nonsense and, if there IS a god, then nothing can be known of him from the bible.

That is indescribably horrible and completely unconscionable.  No one, anywhere, "needs" to die because of some inherited evil.

It's just as if he isn't answering them at all.

For some reason cancer patients sometimes get a yes, but for amputees never. I wonder why?

Heard of a Vendetta? Millions of people all over the world have been killed in war that they inherited from their forefathers. Undeniably religon, resources, personal opinions, and mere family feuds. Would you kill a thousand to save a billion, as an athiest?

You missed it again..Very few amputees actually ask for a direct and total regeneration of their limbs, very few would even try. The fact that prostethics were invented, and that their lives were saved from whatever situation they lost said limb in is a miracle of itself.

Godsaves, you do realise how retarded it is to believe that god just all of a sudden thought "wow for thousands of years I've been shafting those amputees... what is an ALL POWERFUL GOD TO DO? I know I'll let doctors and engineers work for years to make limbs that don't function like the real one! I sure dodged a bullet with that one, I almost had to do a miracle that couldn't be explained away by science, and everyones knows I stopped doing that when ever someone could read write came by.

If you were as smart as God, which BTW, you obviously aren't, you would understand why He did it.

^ You are speaking for god, you are telling why god did things. Blasphemy. "it was in his plan for them to die, and second of all" For someone who does not speak for god, you sure know an awful lot about his plans.

Would you mind telling us where you got that information?

And what about folks who believe in transubstantiation?

But whether actual or analogous, the fact is that ritual cannibalism is disgusting. If ANYone other than a christian were doing it you would be disgusted, wouldn't you?

That's your excuse for it. But the minister/priest/whomever says to drink this blood and eat this flesh. The RITUAL SAYS that you're eating flesh and blood. That's ritual cannibalism. Pretend cannibalism if you will. But still the idea is there that you eat your god/savior.
