Theists Vote Republican

With ‘God on their side,’ Romney and Republicans may very well prevail

For nearly three decades Christian Evangelicals have tended to be reliably Republican. (Today, 70 percent of white evangelical Protestants support the GOP.) But now Mormons, Jews, and Catholics are getting on board with the party in increasing numbers. If the GOP is able to consolidate the support of the major religions in the US, Romney and other Republican candidates stand to win big at the polling booth in 2012 and well beyond.

How do Christians stomach the strong disagreement between Republican ideals and Jesus’s teachings?

Hey Lou, it’s easy to say stupid shit without backing it up, isn’t it. How about you put some foundation under those sky castles you just threw out, or are you unable?

You theists like skyhooks, don’t you? You must: it’s literally the purpose of religion to provide skyhooks to explain phenomena outside of your grasp. In fact, I’d bet you like them almost as much as you like logical fallacies, like the non sequitur that you laid out on the “atheists vote democrat…atheist ideals and a Christian president.”

Let me not miss the opportunity to point our your very thinly veiled racism here too, particularly since some of you guys like to call us bigots.

I don’t know if you’re poor, but you’re obviously uneducated. Did you and Hor go to the same grammar school?

What is a “point Thomas” and whose is it?

Lou, you really are an idiot; you’re simply too dumb to realize it.

How do theists stomach the collision of christian ideals and a Mormon President, when Mormonism is clearly a totally made up religion based on demonstrably false claims?
Was their (sic) a point (,) Lou?
The Republican candidate will lose because he is a deluded and pandering career politician. It is simple as that.

Tell us Lou, do you believe in the Mormon version of Christianity? Was there really a vast tribe of Israelites living in North America before the arrival of Europeans? Was Jesus really an alien god who was once human? Or does Mitt have it all wrong?

They have no point. They see the writing on the wall. President Barack Hussein Obama is the worst president in 100 years and he will lose. They are preparing their excuses.

The bigots and haters like DPK and Prime will vote for him. The blacks voted over 95% in ’08 and will push 90% in ’12. Then you have the dead, cartoon characters and illegal aliens who will support the panderer.

How do atheists vote for a man full of delusions like President Barack Hussein Obama? A great question they will ignore by focusing on typos.

    Got to love them!

Here’s my point – you NEVER, EVER provide evidence for your imaginary god.

“They see the writing on the wall. President Barack Hussein Obama is the worst president in 100 years and he will lose. They are preparing their excuses.”

FYI – I didn’t vote for Obama, but I don’t think he’s the worst President in 100 years. IMHO, the truth of the matter is most of the rants against are him are simply thinly veiled racism.

“How do atheists vote for a man full of delusions like President Barack Hussein Obama?”

That is nothing but a straw man argument. What makes you think atheists vote for him?

“A great question they will ignore…”

Nobody ignores anything like you do when it comes to presenting evidence for your imaginary god.

    “…by focusing on typos.”

Nobody focused on typos. But apparently you’re either too dense to know the difference between typos and stupidity, or you’re simply making excuses for Lou who never defends his indefensible comments. He’s an idiot, and so are you for for defending him.

But if you really want to defend him and show us how smart you both are, then please answer:

Show us which “founders referenced” the same god in which you believe.

Who is “they,” and how is it relevant that “they” weren’t “for the separation clause?”

It is worth pointing out that the entire neo-con lot responsible for the modern Republican party are atheists. They are “above” that fray, and use its reliably manipulative force in the same way cynical political types always have- European royals are the classics, and the quick study Putin is using the church to suppress the Russians as they have been through most history. Nothing new.

The earlier poster should also have noted that college professors and PhDs from accredited schools are Democrats by a very large margin. What about the newly worthy of maligning elites? Those dreary souls who do not compare favorably to the excellence of Joe the Plummer are Dems too.

You called me a bigot and a hater in the same post you insisted upon using President Obama’s middle name… nice touch there.

This claim of yours, however, is simply not true. I looked it up, did you? Some polls put President Obama between 6th and 10th best in the nation’s entire history, while others plant him between 14th and 18th. Importantly to your claim, no poll puts him behind of the following presidents, all of whom served in the last 100 years:
    William Howard Taft
    Warren G. Harding
    Calvin Coolidge
    Herbert Hoover
    Richard Nixon
    Gerald Ford
    Jimmy Carter
    George H.W. Bush
    George W. Bush

Most seem to put Wilson, FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson unequivocally ahead of President Obama, and they vary as compared against Reagan and Clinton.

That means they put him somewhere dead in the middle of the presidents of the last century, tipping toward the top half, and probably the best president since Johnson (left office in January 1969, 43 years ago).

Of course, it’s hard to measure recent presidents. For example, when it all comes out in the wash, Reagan will probably fall a few notches, particularly as the fallout from that uber-illegal Iran-Contra thing dicks us around for the next decade or two. The real point here, though, is that your claim that he’s the worst in 100 years is a propagadist lie sold to you by fascists and gobbled up because you lack critical thinking skills and might be a racist (that “Hussein” thing usually implies real bigotry, as opposed to the projected false bigotry you accuse me of).

One thing I have learned from interacting with the nut jobs here is that theists feel they have the right to claim anything they want as fact, and feel absolutely no obligation to demonstrate to anyone that anything they say is in fact, true. I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise, since that is basically the foundation of all religions, where believing in wild-ass, bat-shit crazy claims without any good reason at all is considered a virtue to be admired.

The funniest thing to me is, Obama is a Christian… so why are his political views being debated on an atheist forum? What’s the quality (or lack thereof) of his presidency got to do with “exploring god and religion in our world today”? If you think he is the worst president in 150 years, well, the one thing you cannot deny is that you then think he is the worst Christian president in 150 years too. So?
BTW… since “A” placed the marker at 150 years… that would put the deliminator at Abraham Lincoln. So Obama is the worst president since Lincoln? Really?

Um, it is customary, ASStro, when moving the goalposts, to move them in away that benefits your argument, not weakens it.

Now you’ve added a few more presidents that President Obama has been unequivocally ranked as better than:
    Andrew Johnson,
    Ulysses S. Grant
    Rutherford B. Hayes
    James A. Garfield
    Chester Arthur
    Benjamin Harrison

You’ve added Teddy Roosevelt as well, who is currently ranked better than President Obama (I’m secretly hoping Pres. Obama wins again in November and pulls at Teddy by using corporate money to get elected for a second term and then slamming the door on campaign contributions and lobbying efforts before going uber-progressive, which landed T.Roosevelt unequivocally in the top 5 presidents of American history and got him carved into that mountain in South Dakota).

You’ve added a couple of maybes too: Grover Cleveland and William McKinley.

So… instead of seeing President Obama near the top of the second quartile of presidents like essentially all people who actually look at the matter without clear bias, you mysteriously place him at the bottom. Among the list of people you offer, there are 15 presidents that were non-controversially worse than President Obama, 4 that are in his range, and 8 that are probably better than he has been so far.

In other words, by moving the goalposts the wrong way, as you did, you’ve taken the president and put him in at least the 65th percentile (instead of the 53rd percentile within the last 100 years), if we’re as harsh as the polls allow us to be, closer to his actual score by most polls of being somewhere between the 65th and 70th percentile overall. If we’re more generous with the polls, he’s closer to the 71st percentile with your moved goalposts instead of at the 64th.

Sadly, though, you’d really have to massage the data to get him to come out below the 50th percentile in any composite poll. Only one significant poll (by the WSJ in 2005) puts George W. Bush higher than the 50th percentile. Last time I checked, Wall Street isn’t doing that great of a job of actually representing the United States, the world, or their economies, so I’m pretty comfortable discounting their poll as biased.

That is where you go against his will, and make Jesus cry, but even that is in accordance with his will, except that it isn’t. Amen.

I find it amusing that Louser just assumed which poll I was referencing instead of realizing from the context clues available that I had actually looked at about 15 of them, considered the outliers but mostly ignored them, and got a general impression based upon what the main body of them say. Then he proceeded to “dismantle” my argument by trying to discredit that particular poll.

But wait… he does so by essentially plagiarizing the article he posted, from a highly biased, openly conservative source that starts out with the typical rhetoric you hear from these morons lately: “This distinguished organization said this, but I’m an ignorant fool and say it’s wrong, so it’s wrong. This is America. My ignorance is as good as knowledge and understanding as long as I’m really loud about it. That’s what the First Amendment says.”

In fact, that article is such a typical and outrageous piece of excrement that it’s hard to avoid crushing its degree of journalistic failure clause by clause, sentence by sentence, and paragraph by paragraph.

This, Louser, is what you call confirmation bias in action. It’s the same mechanism by which you can think that all kinds of things in the world have the finger of God on them, so it’s rather important that you learn to identify it. Your lifetime spent in the church-taught practice of ignoring and rationalizing confirmation bias has clearly poisoned your ability to analyze facts concerning other matters, like politics, in a way consistent with the polity that the Founding Fathers (whom you no doubt love) believed was required for their vision of a democratic republic to actually work. Wait to fail at being an American. You are part of the Republican Taliban, and you’ve outed yourself repeatedly here, as near as anyone can tell only because someone threw out the opportunity for you to do so. Nice work.

Another thing: Does anyone else notice the same trend here in the political arena?

Here’s a commonly heard fallacy here: “Christianity is a faith, so atheism must be a faith.”

Here’s another one: “You don’t hate who I hate so you must be a lib’ral Democrat.”

Just like the possibility that someone doesn’t hold a religious faith escapes them, that someone doesn’t blindly follow political parties seems beyond their comprehension as well.

I suspect we can understand this clearly in terms of what psychologists call “theory of mind.” Some simpletons simply fail at it: theirs is poorly developed.

Obama declares a moral imperative as POTUS. His health care take-over is moral; dissenters are liars. This is the essence of his message to the religious groups that Obama has approached.

Obama has spread abortion funding around the world. He has supported partial-birth and gender abortion. He wants to kill DOMA, the restriction of marriage to a man and a woman. He lies about his positions on just about everything – from single payer insurance to his birthplace to his friendships and associations to his ethics as an Alinsky purveyor. So it is no surprise that he lies about morality – he has no concept of what morality is.

The Alinsky-Obama morality is clear. According to Alinsky, the only immorality is the failure to pursue a radical opportunity. And that is the sole morality of the radical Left. There is no accompanying examination of “means” for ethical or moral consideration: the “end” justifies any means whatsoever, including defaming the opposition as “immoral”. And that is just what a desperate Obama is doing.

So is it surprising that the idea of eliminating the “last year of life” of the elderly is part of Obama’s thought process? The savings produced by not providing care to the elderly would be significant, a concept not lost on the eugenist-in-chief, and certainly not his health advisors, such as Emmanuel, who has already decided the value of the lives of every person at every stage of his life. There is no morality involved in deciding whom to deny care; the decision is strictly utilitarian, based on the pre-calculated value of the life of that patient. If you think that this sounds familiar, re-read the book “The Nazi Doctors”, by Robert Jay Lifton… if you can stomach it.

The Emmanuel Human Life Value graph is shown here again, so that you can determine the value of your life, your baby’s life, your parents and grandparents lives… and ultimately your life at life’s end:

Obama has staffed an entire czarhood with morality-free Leftists. These individuals are quite comfortable in creating their own ethics-of-the-moment, convenient behaviors decreed by them to be moral, and even moral imperatives, at least at the moment they are uttered. Tomorrow, of course, these behaviors or programs might not matter in the least, but today they are moral and imperative.

Now Obama cronies are lecturing the public on “integrity’. David Axelrod is a professional lie-monger, and that is not a lie. He “repackages” issues to be presented to the public in a fashion that obscures the real intent. One of his clients was Michelle Obama who was trying to slick out a way to perform [illegal] patient-dumping in order to raise the bottom line at her hospital; Axelrod recommended “rebranding” the issue to make it palatable to the poor blacks who were being turned away in favor of more lucrative patients.

This is the same Axelrod who “repackaged” a huge utility rate hike, using fear mongering ads predicting power outages a la California, and promoting rate hikes through a front group he called “Consumers Organized for Reliable Electricity, or Core” – failing to declare that the ads were paid for by Commonwealth Edison, the beneficiary of the rate increase.

This is the same Axelrod whose son now runs the Axelrod firm, AKPD, which is still paying the elder Axelrod, and which is paid to develop ads for at least two front organizations for PhRMA for supporting ObamaCare: profiting from the drug organization that hopes to profit from ObamaCare. This is integrity, Obama-style, Chicago-style, Alinsky-style.

The idea of Axelrod lecturing on Integrity is ludicrous at any and all levels.

Much of the USA subscribes to a different type of morality, one of higher derivation, one that is absolute and not convenient, one that has a real integrity. Perhaps it is this conflict of moral basics that is helping to drive Obama and his Leftist cronies into sub 50 percentile approval ratings, and Democrat congressmen into hiding.

how about privitizing the miliary while you’re at it? i bet blackwater would do fine for you. don’t stop there, privitize the police and the emergency services, shit, privitize every fucking thing, moron.

“I would rather take my chances with the private insurance companies over the government any day. Can I get an Amen! Private insurance has been just fine to me thank you very much. If they are not, I can seek out another when the government allows.”

Hmm, hope you don’t get any too-expensive conditions and getting dropped, don’t mind paying “your share” of 10-15 times the actual cost of your procedures (resulting in you paying out of pocket 2-5 times what they cost), and don’t happen to give birth to any kids with pre-existing conditions. You could seek out another one, but since they’re all colluded in this massive gang-raping of the American people, it won’t do you a lot of good. If one denies you coverage or drops you, good luck getting another one. I kind of have a problem with the fact that my insurance premium for my family costs more than my mortgage.

“The thinly veiled communist poster above who wants the government to control all facets of our lives is evidently very very young or just very very stupid.”

I didn’t say I want the government to control every facet of our lives or even run healthcare (although I do actually want a state-funded universal option, since it’s relevant). I want government to do its job to protect me from the entities that want to do me and my countrymen harm, and in this case, it includes the insurance (and many other) corporations who have sold us out for their own profits. I want them justly regulated, not the government in everyone’s business. Just like I think the FDA is a good idea, I think the healthcare industry, including its insurance industry, needs to be regulated to protect us.

I don’t know if I’m very, very young or not. How old is the line there? I’m in my thirties.

I’m not very, very stupid, rest assured.

Since you call me a communist, let me ask you a couple of questions.
    1. Will you please elaborate on the difference between “communism” and “socialism”? They aren’t the same thing, it turns out. I’m neither, but I’m an advocate for some degree of socialized healthcare (like Medicare, although I’d like it to become a program available to everyone that wants to choose it).
    2. Do you realize that the private insurance industry is still socialism? It’s just socialism for profit, which is exactly the kind of socialism you call communism and hate–the kind where there is the corruption that ruins everything for everyone.

“I bet he would not be as agreeable if we are calling Romney president next year.”

No, if Romney is president next year, there’s a great chance that I’m going to take my very well-educated self and expat from this country until it can get its shit together. Since I have two advanced degrees in mathematics and a background in the sciences, I can probably make that happen. Other nations can use my considerable talents to become great like America became great on the talents of previous generations that fled their shithole countries as they tipped toward fascism. Don’t get me wrong; I’d like to stay. I really would.

I agree with you. Anyone who would trust the government to look out for their best interest is an absolute fool. Allow insurance companies to compete across state lines, keep a few regulations to protect the end user and let the system work. Oh, some TORT reform would be nice but since they line President President Barack Hussein Obama’s pockets don’t expect that to happen. Oh, did I mention he is an attorney too? He conveniently left that out of Obamacare. I wonder why?

If President Barack Hussein Obama gets another 4 years, nobody will need to worry about insurance. That will be the least of our cares.

Why are you all so concerned about health insurance? Even having health insurance goes against the instruction of Jesus.

“Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’” (Luke 12:22-26, NIV). (Also see Matthew 6:25-34)

You all insist that he is real and his word is truth… But you all disobey him! Why is that?

Actually it would be DPK and Prime who worry about health insurance. That is why you want President Barack Hussein Obama to tell you when, where and how much you may be sick.

God has always provided for me. Yes God has allowed me to have health insurance to pay excessive bills when they arise. You prefer to rely on President Barack Hussein Obama but don’t think that is gonna hold up fellas. Sorry.

Now we know in which god ASStrophysicist believe – the “Yes God.” It’s the god that allows (not provides) you “to have health insurance to pay excessive bills when they arise.”

The “Yes God” doesn’t provide insurance, he doesn’t heal you, he doesn’t prevent illness nor injury – no, only allows you “to have health insurance to pay excessive bills when they arise.”

    Some god!

“A”… have you sold everything you own, as Jesus commanded, to help the 16% who have no health insurance? Or maybe you just said a prayer for them.. which absolves you?
You are so full of shit I can smell it from my monitor screen. If god always provides for you… why do you even need health insurance? Surely god will not make you sick, since he “has always provided” for you?

Actually, the “Yes God” seems to provide quite a thick lining to the pockets of the for-profit healthcare and insurance industrial complex that is currently bankrupting the United States. Seems the “Yes God” loves insurance CEOs and hospital GMs more than ASStrophysicists.

How can you ask such a stupid question?

No atheist blames god for anything. It’s the simple-minded theists who do that because they believe in an imaginary god.

For example, I don’t blame god for your stupidity. You most likely have brain defect. But good for you because maybe you will be spared when some nut shoots you in the head.

“If GOD is imaginary…why then is HE the first to be blamed for all that goes wrong on earth?”

You are mistaking people pointing out the absurdity and contradictions in your claims about the nature of your imaginary gods with someone actually placing blame on him. To actually blame something you’d have to agree that it actually exists. No one here is factually claiming that some god is actually to blame for “all that goes wrong with the world”. We are just pointing out to YOU, that if you are going to claim he is real, and that he is all powerful and all knowing, then YOU must also accept that he IS responsible for “all that id wrong on earth” since, according to you, he not only designed it and built it, but everything that happens, happens only according to his divine will.
That’s a problem for you… not us. To us, the world makes perfect sense. There are no contradictions to be rationalized away or ignored. The world we observe is exactly like what we would expect the world to look like with no supreme, omniscient, omnipotent being pulling the strings. Unless, of course, you are willing to admit that the puppet master is an evil, incompetent, and totally fucked up monster. If THAT’s true, then I suppose your claims could fit with observable evidence.

Of course that doesn’t make sense, does it? No, the most likely reason you didn’t read them is because you know that your “beliefs” are delusional. You know that it’s a bunch of complete and utter shit that any god exists. You even go so far as to assume that whatever you didn’t read applied to your god when there are tens of thousands of gods that it might address. As above, you are utterly and totally delusional.

Don’t like these comments? Then grow up and stop believing in fairy stories.
