Science moment – evolution

60% or more of the adults in American reject the evolution of species. And yet, despite their voluntary ignorance, evolution is occurring all around us. If you would like to chip away at that ignorance and see how scientists look at evolution, this article can help:

What you see is how you evolve

The article puts it this way:

Evolutionary science typically holds that new species are born when populations become isolated from one another, forcing them to adapt differently. The new work is the strongest evidence yet that differences in sensory input — in this case, vision — can give rise to new species.

So now there are two mechanisms for speciation.
