Two examples of EXTREME contradiction in the Christian faith

Theoretically, if you are a Christian, you are supposed to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. But that rarely happens. Instead what we see on a daily basis are examples of Christians doing the opposite of what Jesus teaches. Simple example: Christians go to giant church buildings every Sunday, while Jesus teaches his followers to sell everything and give the money to the poor.

To rational people, these contradictions are startling. How could anyone profess to follow Jesus and then ignore what Jesus says? But to Christians who live inside the Christian Bubble, the contradictions are invisible. It is only in the most extreme and astounding cases that Christians can see the problem. Here are two recent examples:

George Bush:

Catholic Priest:

Priest jailed for sexual assaults

If you are a Christian, can you explain how you live with the constant contradictions? Why don’t you, personally, do exactly what Jesus teaches?

If you are a Christian who is tired of the contradictions, this web site can show you a better way:

Because Christians don’t do what Jesus told them to do doesn’t make the Bible false. People have been disobeying God since he created the first man and woman.. why would that change now?

You don’t understand the Bible and all of your “proofs” illustrate that fact.

What kind of person are you? What is your goal? I mean.. Christianity gives people hope.. is your job to remove that hope from as many people as possible? EVEN if it weren’t real.. that is the goal of most bullies at the basist level.

I believe that God is real.. notice the word ‘believe’? That is akin to faith. The faith that God wants us to have in our free will. What would happen if we could prove God? That would be a contradiction of God wanting us to have free will because if he was proven we would have to accept him or be called idiots.

Uh. Sure beats the fact that he makes you guess whether or not he’s real and gives you the task of choosing one of several thousands paths or else guess what…you ‘burn in the lake of fire.’

I think the penalty of burning in hell for all eternity would be understandable if he did bust out in the sky and say, ‘hey guys. here i am. oh, and by the way, be a baptist and you’ll go to heaven.’

That way, if you still think the guy in the sky is a fucking idiot, you deserve to burn.

Imagine having a kid and then telling him to guess who his father is out of all the men in america. Pick the wrong one, you DIE, FUCKER! Yeah, very benevolent.

Anonymous, free will is not a valid argument.

The Christian deity God, according to the Bible, shows itself many many times, and even appears as a central figure in the NT. For example, in the OT look up 1 Kings 18. In the NT, check any red letter edition.

As such, there is no reason why God could not show itself now … if the Bible is correct, if God is accurately described in it, if Jesus was that deity manifest, and if the deity itself exists. If any of these things are incorrect, the question then becomes; what basis is there for Christianity?

God does not appear to human beings maybe because the generations upon generations of humans have grown to grow astray of God and has polluted the world with sin and evil.. According to the bible, (just in case if you guys don’t read it) God is pure and God can only show to those who are pure-hearted and continuously are searching for Him. Regardless, in the bible it also saids that God does what He pleases no matter how much prayer is evolved or if you need the light immediately. There is no rush for God because He simply does not go by time. God first has to put you through a couple of obstacles in your life to test your faith and your belief in Him.

So, you’re calling your God a liar, or a spoiled child?

How is this boosting support your contention that it’s even there?

im not calling anybody anything, u clearly made that assumption.. i can not change your mind and likewise goes to u. First of, it clearly states in the bible God does as He pleases, if u would just simply open one up.. don’t u like books? but i will detect that u will not understand a single word according to the message behind the content so i suggest u don’t even try because u will only get more angry to your defense.. i accept your knowledge of what u believe in.. why can’t u simply accept mine?

Who ever you are that wrote this book is really not interpreting the Bible correctly / has an argument and is angry at God or is just plain evil!

I have briefly gone over your so called interpretation of bible extracts and you are FAR from the truth!
For Example from God being sexist – He does not hate woman at all – In Matthew 25:1 Jesus says: “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.”
ok – here – 10 virgins are a symbol of good Churches ( everywhere in the bible A female figure is representative of the Church and the bridegroom is Jesus!!! Do your homework before you misinterpret the Book.

In Genesis chapter 3, God punishes Eve, and all women for thousands of years, with greatly increased pain during childbirth. No such pain is inflicted on Adam.

Yes he did punish her – if it was a man that took the fruit first or disobeyed Gods order he would have done the Same! – but you forget to realize that Man did suffer – we get pain too, we have to experience pain like Eve as well…..this is a lesson to learn – She was initially the betrayer and talked Adam into it as well….so yes she needed punishing….
If your children a female and a male – do this and your daughter disobeyed you and also got the male into trouble – how would you punish??
I mean really – look around you people – this is all written in revelations – that people would slag off god and Jesus – but revelations is correct – these are the end times approaching the finale’! So come read something REAL at my blog!

God Bless you – including the lost soul of a writer!

on another note – about your most recent post:

Theoretically, if you are a Christian, you are supposed to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. But that rarely happens. Instead what we see on a daily basis are examples of Christians doing the opposite of what Jesus teaches. Simple example: Christians go to giant church buildings every Sunday, while Jesus teaches his followers to sell everything and give the money to the poor. —– THIS IS THE WORK OF SATAN – he has got into every area of society — BTW Sunday is the correct day of worship (BUT GOVERNMENTS AND SOME CHURCH ORGANIZATION ARE ENFORCING THIS!!) so that evil can provale!! come look at my blog for the facts!

Priest jailed for sexual assaults?? yes – of course – Evil can strike anywhere – even better if it was in the Church’s!! that would make Christians look bad and Satan again would have more followers!

    - Whywontgodhealamputees.com — not sure what God / Jesus did to upset you – but I can tell you know – you still have a chance, but not for long to Repent and be forgiven! Amen.

Another really DUMB argument om a dumb site.

Jesus does not command his followers to sell all they have and give it to the poor. He told one guy (who was not a follower, and apparently did not become a follower) to do this.

He also told Peter to catch a fish with a coin in it’s mouth to pay taxes. Are you going to accuse us of wrongdoing if we pay our taxes out of our wages?

    It’s not my fault that your book is contradictory, and does not match reality. That is your cross to bear, as it were. As I mentioned before;

‘As such, there is no reason why God could not show itself now … if the Bible is correct, if God is accurately described in it, if Jesus was that deity manifest, and if the deity itself exists. If any of these things are incorrect, the question then becomes; what basis is there for Christianity?’

look hermes, i deeply believe that my beliefs are correct but again “TO ME”, can i emphasized that more? TO ME, your theory is only just excuses to the truth.. regardless, we can argue over this for eternity! i have good controversy over your theories or beliefs too.. we will never agree on those terms because your point is different from mines. However, to me the bible teaches me that my point of view is different than any others.. because others don’t see the message in it as i do, instead of just seeing the direct intentions. For example, a mustard seed is the smallest seed in the world now according to the bible it saids “with the faith the size of mustard seed we will move mountains” to you u may seem this is pure contradiction to anything reasonable known to man, according to my understandings it teaches me that i exceed another level in life, or disapprove any obstacle in my path with that ounce of faith.. Again, we come from different backgrounds so then we know different teachings

Nugget, you started off with telling me the standard line where I don’t know what’s in your holy book. Then you added in details about your god that you simply can not know and are contrary to what is in that book.

You said things like: “There is no rush for God because He simply does not go by time. God first has to put you through a couple of obstacles in your life to test your faith and your belief in Him.”

Well, that’s fine for you as a Christian but till I called you on the details, you were in 100% preaching mode and were not addressing people in general but acting as if we all were Christians of some sort that just needed to think like you do. Go back and look. It’s arrogant. It’s preaching.

Even in your latest comment you are still preaching, with a minor concession that you are talking about what your religion means to you. That would be fine if you kept it to yourself. Yet, you brought it to a public area. That alone makes it something that people in those public areas can talk about.

The bottom line is that if we share the same reality then we should be able to come to some agreement on what that reality is. In normal day-to-day life, I’m sure that we do. Yet, you don’t seem to want that in this one instance. You want preferential treatment; the ability to sit behind your wall of faith and tell others what is true … while allowing nothing to come in, and getting offended when someone points out the holes in that wall.

If you really want to talk, we can’t do it in this blog as these messages fade fast as more are posted. You can drop by the forums, though.

On the forums, we can get as nuanced and talk of transcendental hair splitting as much as you want. Yet, do not expect that I’m going to nod my head and say that I agree with anything you say. Sometimes I will, sometimes I won’t, and I’ll be glad to go into as much detail as necessary.

I’ve read your book. Twice. I know what’s in it, the good and the bad. Have you read other holy books?

Answering your first question, God does not refer to time because it saids in the bible that one day to us is a thousand years span to Him. I just want you to understand that the bible has thousands of perspectives due to all edits and translations the bible over the period of time it was published and re-published(which you probably know).
Hermes, you look like you know your facts,I just want you to understand the message your getting from my book of contradictions, is that to me refer to a significant way of dealing with life illustrated in parables. Yes, i do agree that i was preaching the word in my bible, but i was also stating that to us regardless of what religion you consist of, there is always a hidden message behind the word, which if thought and seen through logic or knowledge is completely controversy.
Yes, I have studied and continue to study different types of religion but there are so many religions out there that it will take a lifetime to understand them all. Mainly, I am a different type of Christian, what i am trying to say by this, is that i address the manner in a unbiased way, trying to learn your perspective and feed on the info that you are supporting, which overthrows my beliefs. Nevertheless, my main concern is how to address an atheist with their belief(s). The cases where atheists’ belief is based on the theory of evolution is the base of my concern. What i would like to know what will it take you to convert and follow the rules of a creator? take into consideration everything that you of the bible.

Good thing I wasn’t drinking milk when I read this. I’d squirt it out my nose with laughter for sure. Johnson is master of slaying the strawman of Christian belief.
