The utter, shameless hypocrisy of Christians

Comics like this lay bare the utter, shameless hypocrisy of Christians, especially “evangelical Christians”:

Welcome to Paradise!

And then there is the Pope:

- The Pope on his throne

- Morals

No intelligent person could live in such a state of hypocrisy.

This video spells it out in more detail:

Another example of religious bigotry and hatred:

Does the blogmaster have any clue how an “evangelical christian” is defined. Two of the three pictures have the pope in them That statement alone gave me the biggest laugh.

The hypocrisy of atheist was the second biggest funny today. Comics

Are you trying to say that the Pope is not a christian, or that he doesn’t evangelize christianity? And even so, what has that got to do with the hypocrisy of the church when it comes to wealth and the supposed teachings of Jesus?

How come the church makes nuns take a vow of poverty, but not priests???

So Curmudgeon – have you sold everything and given it to the poor? WHY NOT?????

I had a christian apologist rationalize to me once that that instruction from Jesus in the bible did not apply to everyone… but only to the one guy he was speaking to. So, according to him the exchange actually went something like this:

“Lord, what must we do to enter the kingdom of heaven?”

“Well… THAT guy over there needs to sell everything he has, give the money to the poor, and then come follow me. The REST of you….. hahaha.. never mind, just believe in me and you’re all good.”

DPK – you’re kidding! I had the exact same exchange a few years ago. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. When Jesus said to turn the other cheek, he was talking to a single person. All other Christians must defend Jesus (and themselves, as representatives) with the shortest temper and bloodiest blows. It’s surreal…

Truth Seeker – if you were anything but a LIE PROMOTER you wouldn’t be asking for a proof and pretending the evidence isn’t OVERWHELMING.

Not really surprising. By definition, people of faith don’t think much for themselves and tend to just regurgitate the nonsense they are spoon fed. The silver haired televangelist with the rolex and private jet needs an explanation for why his lifestyle doesn’t fit with Jesus’ instructions, so like they always do, they invent a rationalization. Happens all the time. When they get sick, they give god credit when they get better… but they still go to a doctor. Why? “Well, god gave us doctors too.” There is no end to it.

Ignore Truth Seeker. He is anything but a truth seeker. Anyone who, in this day and age, willfully ignores the overwhelming mountain of evidence for evolution by natural selection is a deluded moron. Even most main stream theologians and churches accept the fact of evolution. It’s kind of like insisting the earth is flat.

But the bigger realization is that even IF.., evolution was demonstrated to be absolutely wrong, what would that prove about the existence of gods? Nothing, nada, zip. The origin and development of life is one of the last areas in which their “gods of ignorance” can try to cling to a home. They are reluctant to let it go and let their gods slip further into serving no useful purpose.

    Truth Seeker,

I assume you mean macroevolution. The answer is no. They use microevolution as their evidence. How did DNA evolve? How did the brain evolve? They have nothing other than some theories. Not testable, not verifiable.

Not that tired one again Crum!
Next you’ll be telling us that erosion is real, but “macro-erosion” the process that makes rivers and levels mountains is not testable and not verifiable because we don’t see rivers like the Nile being formed today, now do we? So therefore, it is not true.
You need to get out more.

    Pure comedy gold.

Curmudgeon, your argument is a red herring. Instead, why don’t you provide the promised proof that your god exists?

    “How did DNA evolve?”

A very legitimate question. If evolution is fact, then they should be able to answer this simple question.

What has DNA got to with YOU providing evidence that YOUR god exists?

Answer, nothing. It’s just an excuse to avoid the discussion.

It’s pathetic. Theists NEVER answer questions. Why? Because their beliefs are delusional and they KNOW it.

Prove us wrong. Prove your god exists. Do it, or admit that your beliefs are just childish fairy stories.

Hor, you lie again. Gravity is a fact. Please explain to us how it works. You should be able to answer this very simple question.

A… it is sad that you don’t even see the fallacy of your own question.
Imagine if 400 years ago, I challenged you “Explain how people get smallpox?” or “explain why milk spoils?” You, having no information about germ theory or the existence of microbes would have to say, “I don’t know.” Then, what if I said, “Well then that is proof that smallpox is caused by god as punishment for sin.” or “milk spoils because of a black magic spell.”
You are doing the same thing. It is called the “argument from ignorance”. Anything that is not 100% understood is the province of gods. A province that once included the sun rising and setting, the seasons changing, weather, earthquakes, and all other natural events.

Despite that, we currently have some very good evidence about how DNA evolved. Maybe if you spent some time actually reading instead of looking for excuses to continue believing in your dogma, you may be saved from making yourself look silly:

There are no definitive answers here. Just lots of possibilities.
If you want to answer a real question that should have an easy answer… why would god, who exists outside of the physical world, create a universe based on space and time? Why would an eternal god, after an INFINITE amount of time existing, decide to create the universe 14 billion years ago? What happened to make him decide to do this? And, if we are his “ultimate” creation, why did he need to create a universe so vast and largely so inhospitable to life? Wouldn’t one perfect world do?

Well there is no proof for creation either. I would prefer to go by evolutionary theory, that life is a cosmic accident, rather than go by the creationist theory.

For the sake of discussion, say creationist theory is true; then that creator must be stupid and/or a sadist. I say this because the reproductive architecture in human species is skewed. The odds are against women. Men have very little, almost nothing, to lose while women have huge price to pay in terms of motherhood in the gender game. On top of this skewed reproductive architecture the creator also put intelligence in to the same species. Intelligence (not wisdom more often) coupled with such a skewed reproductive architecture in a bisexual species like humans is a horrible (horrendous) combination, which only a stupid and/or a sadist can come up with.

Remember religion tortured and forced Galileo to confess a lie when he espoused the idea that the earth was round. What makes you religious folk so sure that religion is factual? The answer is; you cannot. None of this makes any difference. We should not waste intellect on these issues. Instead we should be looking for ways to improve life for everyone on this planet. Our beliefs have been kidnapped and twisted around by American Christianity to the effect of actually opposing the one Christians have claimed to follow. Siding with one political bias and claiming as Christian issues those things that Christ never even mentioned is Hypocrisy to the Max. Free trade? Welcome to Hell. America has the potential to be a great nation. But first we need to tackle our problems together using knowledge and the ability to learn from the past. We need to leave religion alone to accomplish this social experiment we call the USA. And religion needs to step back and respectfully let us progress and leave the process of building a nation finish what it started.
