The insanity and homophobia of religion is actually killing people

It is so very, very sad what religion is doing to innocent members of our societies:

Speech by city councilman Joel Burns of Fort Worth, Texas

It is sad, and also horrifying. Here, in the 21st century, in modern America, we as a society are subjected to the disgusting, violent, bigoted behaviors of Christians everywhere we go. To the point where many members of our society feel that suicide is the only way to gain relief. All of it is happening in the name of a “God of love”.

And Islam is worse. Read this article to see the insanity of religion amplified by rampant fundamentalism:

Middle East: The Clash Of The Fundamentalists

The Sunnis are backed by their religious head, Saudi Arabia lead by the Wahhabist conservative regime (Wahhabism is a particular orientation within Salafism). The Shiaas are influenced by their Shiaa-Iconic regime, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Mullahs regime that launched “The Shiaa Revival” with its Iranian Revolution three decades ago. Iran is now accused of imposing its political and religious agenda on non-Iranian Shiaas, causing conflict in their own countries, and also influencing Sunnis as well. Throughout the Arabian Gulf countries, one phenomenon is found: Imams are loudly swearing to – both inside and outside their mosques – the fundamental basics of the Shiaa tradition. At the same time, many books have recently been released that are against the Shiaa tradition. Those books are freely available to the public. An analyst from the region told me in confidence that this phenomenon is a “Wahabist invasion of the Gulf countries”. The Sunnis have started to call the Shiaas as rawafid (Rejectionists and perhaps dissidents) The Shiaa have started to call the Sunni as Nawasib (Have intentional hostility against Imam Ali). These words are derogatory, stereotypical, and highly provocative.

The behavior makes us look imbecilic as a species, and leads the author to predict all-out war:

Without intervention, the clash of these three fundamentalists will lead to an all-out religious war, on par with the Christian Crusades centuries ago, but fought with today’s ever more deadly weapons.

All in the name of a “God of peace”.

An intelligent person can come to only one conclusion: Religion is insanity. That is the only word that can be used to describe it. Manny will argue that it is “only the extremists who do these things”, but what is happening with homophobia in America, and the sectarian strife in the Middle East, is not caused by extremists – these are mainline activities by the rank and file, fully and publicly encouraged by religious leaders.

If you are a Christian or a Muslim, please consider an alternative. Abandon these ridiculous religions, their disgusting leaders and their imaginary, ridiculous “gods”. Here are two sites that can help you overcome religious delusion:

Why won’t God heal amputees?

God is imaginary

This is just stupidity. I have more problems with atheist in places like China and home grown atheist terrorist like Timothy McVeigh. Homosexuals are more protected than any group other than Muslims in America.

Can you kindly explain from what/who should homosexuals be protected?
    Why?
Who is endangering them and why, so they have to be protected?

Looks like you managed to make Thomas (#1 and 4) come unhinged. Everyone knows the enemy of the homosexual is the religious fundie/extremist.

Mr. T did get it partly right with his rant when he wrote “any other group not like them” but he forgot to mention that is the exclusive domain of the religious camps.

You so silly. I say Q-less since you have no comprehension of the word unhinged.

To simply refute you allegation, check on the homosexuals in Red China by the loving, accepting regime. They are not as far along as we are although more accepting than the past Unfortunately, the bigots still kill Christians.

    Agree/Disagree? Where do you stand?

    atheist terrorist like Timothy McVeigh.

Huh? Wasn’t McVeigh, like Hitler, a Catholic? Perhaps Hitler was more of a Catholic. McVeigh drifted to some generalized christian beliefs, just like the teabaggers.

But the thread is about your favourite hot button topic. So back on topic, Cleatus.

Can you kindly explain from what/who should homosexuals be protected?
    Why?
Who is endangering them and why, so they have to be protected?

    Sev,
They got no answer. The best that they can do is say “it’s wrong!” and then throw a bible at you.

Mcveigh was a confessed atheist Not my opinion, from his own mouth Yes, he was much like a Hitler with the exception Hitler knew how to play the crowd

Don’t Gays need the same protection as all Americans? Wouldn’t that be from criminals? Well at least that is how the laws read. Research gay violence. Today, in the overall scheme of violence it is very rare and only blown up for political purposes

    Nice try, Gas Bag,

McVeigh and Hitler were both Aryan Christians. McVeigh was a huge fan of Turner Diaries.

From one of many sites: http://www.ethicsdaily.com/news.php?viewStory=15532
“McVeigh: I do believe in a God, yes.”
Hardly sounds like an atheist, unless you’re working from the same source for definitions as Horus.

Back on topic: Since there is violence towards the gay community in the US of A, why don’t you and Hor take the initiative and stop condemning the practice. The Christian community missed the boat on slavery by a few hundred years so why not join this century (get with the times) and stop with the anti-homosexual rhetoric. Surprise everyone, numerous Christian churches have already changed their positions on the topic. You nutty fundies running around in your magic undies will eventually come around.

Its been awhile! Let me start with our resident Quack is wrong….again. McVeigh is quoted as saying “Science is my religion”. It is also noted while in the service he would slip away before church services and tell friends he was agnostic.

An article through Huff for the atheist doubters.
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/jun/11/mcveigh.usa4

As the Bible states “You shall know them by their fruits” not their words. He was definitely at best agnostic. Not surprising.

Great post X-man. Not one word about those guys being Christian,. By their fruits I would peg them to be agnostic at best just like McVeigh.

So exactly what have Christians done here they need to be sorry for?

    Not surprising.

They (ad many thousands others) have nothing to be sorry for.

    Oops!

    Cur,

Somehow, there are certain atheist who believe that people living today should apologize for the deeds of others hundreds of years ago. Yes, it is stupid but it is what it is.

Maybe we should change the criteria. All dark headed people should apologize for dark headed people’s evil deeds or all Germans for the Lusitania. Just thinking aloud.

Not once will you hear an atheist apologize for the USSR. The again, I have enough sense not to expect them to do so.

“Somehow, there are certain atheist who believe that people living today should apologize for the deeds of others hundreds of years ago.“

How typical for believers in god to use lies to turn attention from the topic!
Where and when did I say anyone has to apologize for anything?
Where did another atheist say such a thing?

    Let’s say it another way:
How many aheist on the earth today? 4%?
How many atheists on earth 100 years ago? 1%?
How many atheists during entire history of human race? Less than 0.5% (probably MUCH less. If someone only doubted or posed questions, he/she would be killed in name of one of „right“ religions that ruled the world for milleniums)?

WHAT influence could atheists have on anything, ever?
    None!

So, WHO did ALL evil things to human race during the histtory? Atheists?
    Hardly!

Even in Russia, China, Germany: there were NO atheists when „atheist regimes“ took power!
Christians WOTED for Hitler! Christians suported Russian revolution and died for communist promisses. Believers supported China revolution and died for Mao’s promisses!
Even if those regimes were (somehow?) “atheist”, BELIEVERS are responsible they too kpower! Believers brught them to power one way (elections) or another (revolutions).
I do not expect believers to apologize for crimes of those regimes, althou THEY (believers) are, obviously, (indirectly) responsible for them.

I expect believers to understand and to accept FACTS, to avoid such terrible mistakes once more in history: to vote, or to support, or to fight for another criminal regime.

    Atheist are not so stupid.

Sources? Did not see any provided…. Can’t find information to support your view. Sounds like it’s your opinion.

    Large Curmudgeon:

He was definitely at best agnostic

Are you calling the gas bag and Thomas liars? They insist that he was an atheist !!!

    Boz:

when will you stop condemning the practice of Christians?

I just question the mix of religious beliefs with science. Especially when folks like Horus try to leave the comforting enclave of faith and use logic to try and “prove” their beliefs. I have the comfort of being wrong about my understanding of the world and then being able to seamlessly transition to a new and better understanding as our technology advances. I know that todays scientific understanding of our world and universe will be enhanced in the future (and I will need to revise and improve my understanding). Think of how much has been learned since Galileo pointed his telescope to the night skies and wondered about the workings of our solar system.
If you’re trying to mix faith with science, then you are yoked with trying to squeeze god into the shrinking gaps of knowledge. Good luck with that!!!

Why would Mr Q want to be so intolerant?

Have I been intolerant? I have many “true” Christian friends. None of them think I am intolerant.

But anyway, I digress: It’s almost unanimous that Muslims hate the gay community. However, there are Christian groups that have decided to, in varying degrees, become more accepting of the homosexual community. These Christians are following a course that society has dictated to them. So, I suggest that ALL religious faiths should revise their positions (take a leadership role for a change). Let’s change the mindset of everyone so that another senseless killing based on sexual orientation does not occur. Boz, you guys are the moral leaders…..so you say, right? Take a position.

    Quack,

You are so intolerant. You would LIKE to tell others what they must accept. How freedom-loving of you! Gays can do whatever they like, they are FREE! Before you begin, marriage is NOT a right and the government should GET OUT. And no, I won’t redefine the word. Make up a name for Gay unions and I will have no problem with it.

They don’t need me to proclaim it as OK. Just as I don’t need Gays, Muslims, or atheists acceptance to worship God. Intolerant quacks say all that needs to be said about themselves.

PS: You didn’t read the Huff article above did you quacker? McVeigh’s letter is clear as day. Even you could follow his claim. Oh, before I forget. Senseless killings will always take place. Christians die across this planet almost daily. But for atheist, Christian murders are never a problem.

    Oh, Large Cur

Does legal union work? How about civil contract? Hey, you wrote “Gay unions” with a special emphasis on gay (with the big ‘G’). Is there something that you’re hiding? Or did the term just get you a little stoked when you typed and imagined that?
As a side note, wifey and I never got hitched in a church. Everyone thinks we are married. Even our kids!! Imagine that.

You would LIKE to tell others what they must accept.

Ooops. Did I come across like that. Sorry!! No cur, you’re a big boy and you read fairy tales and treat them as a basis on how to live your life. Likely nobody can penetrate the fog you live in. Just accept what makes sense to YOU.

They don’t need me to proclaim it as OK.

You don’t need to proclaim it as OK. Just don’t be an idiot and use your fairy tales (pun intended) as an excuse to condemn ANY group of individuals. Where did I write that you needed to proclaim anything? You truly are a buffoon.

Christians die across this planet almost daily. But for atheist, Christian murders are never a problem.

How can I help? And what are you talking about? On the bright side, they get quick hassle free passage to the eternal promised land.

From Q: “Hey, you wrote “Gay unions” with a special emphasis on gay (with the big ‘G’)”

Sorry….gay union. I thought I would show respect, Oh well, why would atheist get married? That has religious roots…LOL! Money right? Of course. Hey, but you did meet the definition. She looking for an annulment?

But yes, I am not into redefining words for a group of people. But you will never get gays to agree. Majority I know couldn’t care less! Its not about the paper slick, its about money and get over on the Church, Pretty silly huh!

Thought you never ask. You can personally go to China and protest the government. I promise to hold you in highest regard.

Just go to China and protest what? If you ask the gas bag, Xenon, and some of the other religiously inclined posting on these threads they will point out that there are THOUSANDS of Christians being converted/born in China every week.

Hey, but you did meet the definition…”of marriage”

No definition was given by you so I am assuming that your approval is because I have a penis, she has tits and a vagina.

    why would atheist get married?

It was her idea. She wanted to see a ring on her finger before she started pushing out kids. I have to confess: We did partake in pre-marital sex, I hope you’re not upset!!!

I personally couldn’t care if a church says no to marrying a gay couple in their church. What happens in their sacred building is their business. Unless it involves alter boys.

At times I find the anti-homosexual rhetoric a little much. What happens behind closed doors between consenting adults is their business. That includes whatever activities that Hor and his sister engage in. Celebrate Halloween you hillbillies, Pump Kin.

I’ve been reading this for the past several minutes and have started wondering to myself do many christians realize that the muslim “allah” is the god that they worship? I mean according to the history that I was taught the two are the same.

I am a christian but have come to accept the reality that the Bible was written by human beings that witnessed events. I don’t think that God wrote it down on the little sheets of paper from Egypt (can anyone remember the name of it cuz I can’t!) and dropped it down unto the Earth. So is it possible that God is a fabrication of the human mind because we felt that we needed something to believe in and polytheistic method just wasn’t working for us?

Lastly humans whatever they are/choose to be (in terms of sexual preference) it’s just what happens. You can beat them into submission, assail them with as many vitriolic sayings you want, and force them to conform yet they will still crave, and or want whatever their sexual preference is. So go ahead and attack them as much as you want. In the end their minds may be changed but not what they truly desire.

(If you get pissed off at me please take it somewhere else. I will ignore you if you attack me with words. Just calm conversation.)
