Christianity is a sick death cult, by Christopher Hitchens

Is it moral to believe that your sins can be forgiven by the punishment of another person?

Could this actually get any more comical? I really don’t know which is funnier… messenger telling us what god “actually meant to say” because the all powerful creator of the universe obviously has a bad communication problem and needs an half wit like messenger to tell us he didn’t really mean what the bible states he said, but something else entirely… or… our resident Astrophysicist who thinks that god killing people by the millions is equivalent to… wait for it… the car wash turning off the soap and water after your car gets washed.

Uh, yeah, Assman… it’s just like that. hahahaha How’s that popcorn taste, by the way? A lot like an old shoe covered in dog shit I’d imagine.
Time for Martin or Biff or Horatio to show up and try to bring up abiogenesis again, isn’t it? Yup, it’s about that time.

If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple … So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:26-27, 33)

Christians…they are all about the end.

    Nuclear controversy

In 1958, at a time of heightened fear of nuclear war and mutual destruction between the West and the Soviet Union, Fisher said that he was “convinced that it is never right to settle any policy simply out of fear of the consequences . . . For all I know it is within the providence of God that the human race should destroy itself in this manner [nuclear war].”[3] He was also quoted as saying that “The very worst the Bomb can do is to sweep a vast number of People from this world into the next into which they must all go anyway”.[4] He was heavily criticised in the press for this view, though a number of clergy, including Christopher Chavasse, Bishop of Rochester, defended him, saying that “In an evil world, war can be the lesser of the two evils.”[3]

as for your so called “willpower”..my guess is you suffer from a hormone deficiency.

196.michael, Jesus never encouraged hate or violence. That passage is referring to Jesus destroying hate.

The verse about the the peace and sword was referring to the fact that Jesus will never except peace with evil, and that he has come to battle against hate by teaching kindness.

    No. it doesn’t. For christsake

25 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

FROM BIBLEGATEWAY.COM Generously provided by Ligonier Ministries

14:26 hate. This means to love less (cf. Gen. 29:31, 33; Deut. 21:15–17, where “unloved” translates a word meaning “hated”). Discipleship means loving the Master so much that all other loves are hatred by comparison.

    so…no. you are wrong. AGAIN!

    anyone noticing a pattern here?

this fuckin messenger guy is hilariously named.

196.michael, Jesus did not mean to literally mean leave your family, he meant that you must devote more of your time to the lord and his teachings, rather that your family.

Jesus never said hate all distractions. He stated that we must love GOD so much that all other relationship would seem like hate in comparison. Jesus wants us to love people, but love him more.

    WHOLLY FUCKING BIBLE BELT!

Yes, Jesus did mean to abandon your family! He said it A LOT! you don’t devote “more time” you devote ALL YOUR TIME. and yes, love him only, so much that it appears if others are hated. If you think this is a moral act, well, there is no saving you.

57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”

58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”

But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”

61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”

62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

Here ya go. Let the dead bury the dead. Forget your family. tra la.

    Luke 5:11, 9: 59-62, 14:26, 14:33, 18:29-30, 21:26

Gee what does “hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters” and “forsake ALL that you have” mean in your world, ASS? You’re like the kid with his hand in the cookie jar denying he’s taking a cookie. Jesus said what he said (according to the bible).. why don’t you accept it and defend it rather than try to pretend it doesn’t say what it clearly does?
Why do you feel the need to endlessly rationalize and defend your god’s supposed words? Surely the all powerful creator of the universe doesn’t need the likes of YOU to explain to everyone what he “really” meant. I’d think if he was a god, his intent would be perfectly clear. When he said you must hate your family, he didn’t mean you shouldn’t actually hate your family. If that was what he actually meant, he would have said that… No?

more of your time? How about all of your time. When you abandon your family, you are saying you dont care about them. When you dont care about someone, its not a very nice thing. So semantics aside, he wants people to abandon their families, stay virgins, and follow him.

you go ahead and do that.

and no one will ever miss you.

  21. on 04 May 2013 at 11:25 pm 21.michael said …

I actually do believe that Jesus spoke in metaphors to confuse. In fact, he said that he did. Its because he wanted stupid people to go to hell. To not receive his message. So that the select few could go.

once again, a cunty thing to do. And something that most christans wont admit.

jesus was a fucking asshole. He wanted some people to burn in hell for eternity. He…well…must have hated them. His creations. You know the ones he supposedly made.

which actually goes with what the bible says.

if you follow the story of Jacob and Esau, god just fucking hates some people. For no reason at all.

so jesus is like god in a way.

Then again, he also thought the world was gonna end and if you showed him an iPhone he would shit himself.

No, i think it is safe to assume that being that most of the atheists here can be sickened by such disturbing passages, that you have a hard time understanding metaphors.

There is a time and place to use metaphors, but a divine book that is meant to look nice should not be filled with vulgar metaphors.

I grew up in a christian home. I was a person who didn’t like people in other religions and I tried to avoid them. I am older now, I study not just the bible but this whole religion in general. I was brainwashed by my parents, pastors and other christian family members. I am actually about to stop going to church because it doesn’t even represent God at all, it’s all a bunch of people who have crappy lives and want to control people so they use concepts like hell to scare people, because fear is how we always get caught. If God died for our sins then why are so many people hell bound according to christians?

If hell is as real as christians say it is then every single christian on this planet is a fake and doesn’t love God at all because we are supposed to go to God willingly, joyfully and without force. Telling someone that they will Go to hell for not loving me will make them not love me for sure. The bible is not even the word of God because if it was there wouldn’t be so many contradictions in it because “God is not the author of confusion” right? That’s why many wrote it, man speak about it and man translated it yet IT’S GODS WORD.

Even if you are a person who follows the bible, there isn’t a moment where Christ condemned anyone for not knowing him. His love for others is what drew people to him not a “I WILL BURN YOU IN HELL” attitude. I mean come on, you are worshiping a man who befriended a prostitute according to your bible so I will never understand why it is the first thing for a christian to judge people, WHICH IS ALSO A SIN, according to the bible. Now is all of this MORAL?
    Please tell me

Another thing, none of us have created hell or heaven, seen hell or heaven or seen anyone get kicked into hell or ascended into heaven. So if that is the case, who in the hell are we to determine who makes it into heaven or hell? according to the bible, no one is going to heaven because that’s Gods dwelling place and not mankind so where did that even come from? We were created for earth.
