This appears to be an insane, biblically-based hatred by Christians. If it is not, what is it?

Look at these two articles:

Florida will block tax credits for entertainment industry if movie or tv show has gay characters

Florida lawmakers are considering a “family friendly” bill that would deny tax credits to films and television shows with gay characters in favour of those promoting traditional values…

The little-known provision was slipped into a 75-million-dollar incentive package that Republican leaders who hold the majority in the state House of Representatives hope will bring more entertainment industry jobs to Florida.

School prom off after lesbian’s date request

The prom’s off at a northern Mississippi school after a lesbian student demanded she be allowed to bring her girlfriend.

The American Civil Liberties Union had demanded that the Itawamba County school district allow 18-year-old Constance McMillen to attend with her date.

A school board statement Wednesday announced the district wouldn’t host the April 2 prom at Itawamba County Agricultural High School.

Why to Christians hate people of the homosexual persuasion? Why would Christians hate anyone?

I am a christan and that is all crazy. God dose say love your enemy but that is on just your level. God commands a nation to deffend itself. Like Israle. God was telling the welthy man to sell all he had because the man said how can i b perfect. Not that everyone should just give up on life. Then Jesus was just using that as a metephor for the faith you should have. And he didnt mean hate like dont love them he ment dont love them more than me. So you can twist his words around all you want but Jesus will be lord no matter what you say or get others to beleive. then on another video you want people to pray for God to appear and you know he wont. well Jesus himself said do not test the lord your god. and aswell Jesus said i will not appear again untill my next coming when the end of time is here. so i will pray for you because you are doing wrong and im not saying that ive never done wrong but you are taking people away from christ so i will pray for you i would like to talk to you personally if you would e-mail me

We don’t, we view their lifestyle as immoral. That is why we have a program called Quest run by recovered homosexuals to help them overcome their destructive lifestyle. We love them and want them to know the love of Jesus.

Follower of Christ, have you seen Christ? Have you actually heard Christ? I don’t understand how people can believe something is true without any actual real proof or evidence something even exists. Think about how you actually started believing. Was it because someone had told you about religion way back when? And how did that person start believing? Probably someone told them. And that goes way back to when a group of people started making up the bible and a guy named Jesus who might have been a real person started using David Copperfield magic tricks and people way back then were so gullible and uneducated they believed anything. So why do people have to wait until they die to see what really happens? That is the ultimate escape to the reason why so many people still believe is because of that variable that was created so this would end up being a never ending argument. How lame. Why can’t God show his face now when we have ways to record it for future generations if he is real? Why way back then after we existed for so long of a period already and will in the future. Those 2000 years really is a small amount of time in human existance for him not to wait until we could prove it with video recorders so it if was real everyone would believe and there would be no need for arguement? And why does the bible state things like God created the rainbows and such when we now all know how rainbows are created since we have scientifically advanced since then. Jesus walked across the water? Maybe he was walking on a thin layer of ice far away so others didn’t see the ice. Think about things like that before you just automtically want to believe in something before thinking first. The bible and god were created because people were afraid of dieing (which we know people had a long life if they lived to 30 back then, so death came quicker) and people were killing each other so this was an attempt to stop people from killing. That is the reason why religion formed. Not some God that none of us will ever see until we supposedly die where once we die we turn to dust anyhow since all we are is chemical reactions. Animals all percieve things differently, which doesn’t make us have souls just because we are the smartest of animals and living things. Yeah, we are the most advanced, but if you compare other living things such as bees compared to bacteria, bees are way more advanced. My point in all this is that there are many, many things that need to be considered before one just decides to believe in something just because it makes them feel good. And morals aren’t created be religion, they are created by just man reacting to other man in order for survival. If people really want to believe in a God, go ahead, you can do whatever you want, it is just the people that use relgion to do bad things and make wrong decisions to harm others outside their own beliefs. That is what I have a problem with. Religion is more harmful to society than it helps.

I was seven years old when I first felt the presence of Jesus Christ. Seven. It wasn’t in church…it was in my living room. I wasn’t in my Sunday best…I was in my wonder woman P.J’s. I wasn’t eating the Lord’s supper…I was eating Franken Berry cereal. I wasn’t listening to a high powered sermon…I was listening to my sisters fight. I changed that day, and I thank my God that I did, because as a victim of sexual child abuse- life would have taken me down a much more distructive path had I not accepted Him that Saturday morning.

I don’t have all of the answers. I don’t claim profound theological wisdom. As fact would have it, I too have my doubts. I question my Lord all the time. Why? How? But Jesus, he was a faithful servant!! Jesus, does my Father not like that I am a woman? Why am I so alone? Why do I not feel You with me? They go on and on. BUT…when push comes to shove, and I run across a site like this one…I take this riducle of my Father very, very personally. Every doubt that has ever seeped through my pours…somehow solidifies into a faith that is unfaltering…unwavering. So, I have no choice but to take my very upset self on the defensive.

First, and most foremost, the Jesus Christ that I know…that I love with every fiber of my being, that is very real and in the heart and souls of many, many people…well he preached of love…even of enemies. Yes love, oh men and women of…uh.. “science,” LOVE.

Speaking of science, or ‘realism’ as you will, tell me…what is the first rule of science? To test your theories…your hypothesis? And have you done so? No Einsteins, I’m not talking about flagrantly reading a few versus in the Bible, or disrespectfully going into a church and jotting down a few notes on prayer by observation.

IF you want to find the truth, you’ll need to open your minds just a touch (well, maybe a BIG touch), remain completely biased free…and go and find out the damn truth. You’re so quick to jump to the ultimate conclusion without researching and experimenting proof, observations, and life changing events of the other side, that your willing to stake your very lives on it.

So do I see half of an experiment? Huh? You’re going to snub your noses at us followers of Christ based on a half a#@ scientific job? Nah. I tell you what, after you read a few really good books from Authors formally Aethiests (ie.,Lee Strobel, C.S. Lewis), attend a really good bible based non-denominational church for about 6 months, volunteer at a homeless shelter, wake up in the mornings with a prayer, and maybe go on a two week retreat with lets say Joyce Meyers ministries to Africa to see exactly what the God you claim is imaginary is doing in the lives of people that have lived lives that your nightmares are made of…THEN you come back feeling the same way…maybe this delusional Christian may take you a little more seriously.

But don’t sit there eating doritos, pounding on your computer all day, waiting for Jesus to come and physically knock at your door with gifts, and disrespect my beliefs with your ridiculous commentary.

You say “come down and show us you’re real”. “Make an appearance.” “Do a few miracles.” “Cure Cancer.” I smell familiarity in the virtual air. You smell it? Smells like Jesus in the desert when Satan said “IF you are the Son of God turn these stones into bread.” Or maybe Jesus on the cross while he was dying for YOU, and the people were screaming, “IF you are the Son of God…come down, save yourself.” Psychologically speaking, I’d be willing to bet on exactly what is fueling you. Yikes!!

Regarding Homosexuality: Jesus Christ absolutely loves us ALL. Every sinful, imperfect one of us. It’s not who we are that hurts him, or that decides our fate… it’s what we choose.

I would say hang your head in shame, but the ironic thing is…He already did that for you.

    I’ve said my ‘peace.’

    Blessings
    D

Oh…and the Pentagon shaped like a heart thing? Really? Is that suppose to be a quip? Yeah, uh…pretty stupid. I’m just sayin.

The video clip is very clear, and “so simple” as the narrator stated.
The question given by the narrator is however very unclear. “Why do you disobey Jesus?”

Look at the commands of Jesus within the context of what he was saying. Jesus does not just utter these commands without purpose. And to say that drinking of poison and cutting of hands or whatever part it is that sin etc, they are all illustrations. It makes people SEE or VISUALIZE the meaning of what he states.

It is understandable that you have read the book, but have you understood it? Have you grasped the purpose of the Bible, the purpose of Jesus?

I think you have neither grasped the purpose of the Bible and the purpose of Jesus’ teachings.
Sorry but what you thought you know was right about the teachings of Jesus were actually ill – informed and misguided. Sorry video maker but you just blabbered on some really cool nonsense. You are what we call an over-your-head-smartass-wannabe :)

    yo realist dude(tte),
To actually think that you can fathom the intelligence of the ancient scholars is beyond comprehension. Here we are in the 21st century looking at how the Bible brought about its originality, man you have no clue how it came about huh? All you got were so called smart dudes that conjure up various dates, names, hictorical blunders, and weak illustrations that make no sense to any of your athiest buddies and it also include you. but here you are rattlin away that old pot, making a lot of noise, let me repeat NOISE ok, not sense, ok.

You place a lot of your questions on what you can sense, I believe you know your five basic senses; sight, smell, hear, taste and feel. So you can be either a man or scientist (if you want a more subtle status).

Let me ask you something, do you know how science got its way to where it is now? I assume that you know something of the sort, but I highy doubt you had the correct something :)
You see, when science grew, it was first thought of as witchcraft or something similar; guess who stepped in and helped it…..well that would be a simple quest or assignment for you eh? Start by looking at the founding fathers of the early western universities mainly in USA, another example would be oxford university too.

The reason I gave you these things was because you typically view Christianity as some dumb, no brains, socially incorrect and mentally insane individuals. I tell you that is how it looked like from this side.

P.S. for athiest evolutionists: if you were to take an ordinary watch, place it in a washing machine and gave it a good spin for a year or so, would you still get the same watch at the end of the year? I do not think so, the point is this: if something like a watch can deteriorate in an environment of that sort, what make you believe that a single-celled organism can survive in an environment(fiery furncae of birth) as turbulent as you have created.
Just seeking answers, oh and back to you realist, get some nice illustrations, it’ll charm the audience :)

realist, I missed your final sentence, “Religion is more harmful to society than it helps.”

Wow, really, what about those that go shooting schools or rob supermarkets, banks, and drive by shootings? Is religion involve? I definitely do not think so. You hear about a woman or girl who got raped everyday, but you KNOW about a preacher who raped or sexually molested a young person (boy or girl), do you not see the focus of attention?!

Religion is the only thing that keeps society sane. If I come into your house with an intent of robbing and committing violence, bro what you are facing is no religious person. It is only a person that wears religion like a piece of clothing.

It is really simple when you try to search out a real from a fake Christian; if they follow the book in what it commands, then they are, if they do not do what they claim vocally then its a scam. And you have done a good job in figuring out the real from the fake( basically you have fund fakes). If this is news flash for ya then well, now you have something else you have to look for in Christians. And I tell the truth, not all that claim to be Christians are what a Christian ought to be.

Ok, so I accidently hit enter before I was done–

First of all, I want to point out from Phili, good morals and people doing good things doesn’t necessarily come from a God. It comes from our own instict as a species. It helps us survive.

“Here we are in the 21st century.”

Exactly, we are in the 21st century with modern day thinking and modern science and advancements. Religions formed a long time ago before we advanced intelligently. Those that created religion may have been smart in their own time, but things have changed since then.

“Religion is the only thing that keeps society sane.”

Really? Hmmmm…..how about wars?…..how about all those child rapist priests?……I never said religion is the only thing harmful to society.

    Realist,
“Really? Hmmmm…..how about wars?…..how about all those child rapist priests?……I never said religion is the only thing harmful to society.”

You have an idea of religion, I can give you that. But your idea of religion is what you see on major headlines (this is from the examples given by yourself).

Context is also your weak point i.e, you clearly did not see the statement about people that use religion to cover up their actions. It is a mask that they wear to tarnish the way people view religion. They justify their actions by reading from their various scriptures and picking various sections that they use, (this is however out of context).

When I see those that carry the name of religion around and they commit such atrocities to other people, I do not commend them nor do I applaud them.

They are your normal crooks in disguise, and I’m sure those that are religious recognize this. It is a costume they wear to manipulate many to follow them and to manipulate people such as yourself to take such a view. It is simple.

Take things out of context, Disguise as a religious person, Manipulate a number of people. And venture out to cause havoc (these are how wars start).
A recipe for some bad publicity.

You are right, religion is not the only thing that is harmful, because all people can take things out of context, disguise themselves, manipulate others into doing ghastly acts of wars and towards children and thus receiving bad publicity. (religious or not).

    So what keeps you sane?

  13. on 05 Apr 2010 at 3:43 am 13.A real-ist said …

    “So what keeps you sane?”

What keeps me sane? How about wanting to live since I realize there is no proof of an afterlife. How do I go about living as long as I can? Follow simple guidelines that will make it so others don’t harm me. You might call those good morals. It is a basic instinct, not created by God. Don’t do bad things to others and in return they won’t do them to you. It doesn’t take a higher power to realize that. Governments were formed to help force these guidelines; religion is not needed for that.

  14. on 05 Apr 2010 at 3:59 am 14.Makarel said …

Very good answer, and I find no opposition to the way you view life, but, basic instincts dictates survival. Even if it is to destroy the other for your own safety and peace of mind. That is basic instinct. If there is a possibility to compromise, then bounderies are formed for your survival to continue.
So what does that spell? It spells our world today.

These are barriers realist that you may notice but have no idea why they are here. Why are there people of this and people of that around? Survival, it is their basic instinct.

The qoute, “Don’t do bad things to others and in return they won’t do them to you.” is very flashy, but would you rather say this instead, “do good unto others as you would want them to do unto you.”
The focus is changed from negative insight to positive. That is God given, higher power as you called it.

  15. on 05 Apr 2010 at 4:16 am 15.A real-ist said …

“do good unto others as you would want them to do unto you.”

It is another way of saying what I said and meant and of course that is also part of instinct, but by being positive doesn’t mean it is from God.

“Even if it is to destroy the other for your own safety and peace of mind. That is basic instinct.”

True, it is an instinct as an option, but it also would make it so the chances of getting hurt in return go up.

And since you like to reference the bible a lot, tell me about those stories in there that are for violence.

  16. on 05 Apr 2010 at 5:03 am 16.Makarel said …

    Realist,

“And since you like to reference the bible a lot, tell me about those stories in there that are for violence.”

What is your understanding of the Bible?
What is your understanding of being a Christian?

These questions should sound simple and you may have come to a conclusion to these questions.

This is what Jesus say, ” But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

What place is there for violence? As a Christian, one must follow what Jesus commands here.

And I’ll be totally honest with you, if anyone that says he/she is a christian but acts violently, he/she is no Christian.

Violent stories of the Bible showed the wrath of God and when he wanted something done. But Christ now reveals that it is not our place for violence onor revenge, it is not the call of a Christian.

Since God acted violently and acts violently (many of you claim that earthquakes are created by God to prove a point), then he must not be a Christian.

Many of whom they think is what God is doing say such things as that, “they think” they know what God is or is not doing. They are basically trying to think for God.

Which is the case with many so-called Christians, they speak for God. That is their downfall, tell them that if you do meet them.

Some say, “you failed because you did not have enough faith” Realist, you can reply by saying,”are you speking for God there? Or is it God speaking?” (they may go bananas on that one hahaha)
There is a difference which I hope you understand. It goes back to the taking things out of context, and by the looks of things, it is done frequently.
