Jewish apologetics are just as silly as Christian apologetics

If you have ever wondered what members of the Jewish faith believe and why, here is a summary:

Judaism and Jewish Apologetics

This quote summarizes how both Jews and Christians can happily quote from a book that is obviously repulsive to any normal, non-deluded person:

In view of the fact that in most of history the Jewish people and Jews have been severely persecuted and harassed, first and foremost by Christians and persons raised as Christians – who often justified their actions with the same Bible revered by their victims –, it is almost surprising how much Jewish apologetics resemble those promoted by Christian theologians.

What is presented to the reader as the essential message of Jewish morality is largely a projection of modern, humane and humanistic values on the Scriptural texts, which are quoted very selectively. Like any human product the Sacred Scriptures – as a reflection of the thoughts and environment of their authors – contain both agreeable as well as problematic teachings and morals. Modern theologians consider largely only those verses which do not seem offensive in the light of today’s ethics and value systems, which mainly derive from the era of enlightenment, occasionally even from ancient pagan sources, or are simply values which can be shown to be the basis of many, in other respects vastly different cultures. These selected verses then are claimed to be the essential message of the Sacred text and the religion based upon it, although in many cases the very next verse directly contradicts this picture.

Obviously Jewish theologians can rely on the fact that few lay readers ever bother to look up the original context of the passages they happily quote in support of their claims.

The article contains gems like this:

Sometimes one has to read a passage twice to believe what has been written in the Sacred Books of Judaism: what has been decreed the way to a holy life by the “sages of blessed memory… whose words are the natural sounds of Judaism” [131]:

Said Rabbi Joseph, “Come and take note: A girl three years and one day old is betrothed by intercourse. And if a Levir has had intercourse with her, he has acquired her.”

Delightful.

Humorous! All scripture quoted from the bible are TRANSLATIONS from authors who wrote this material around 100 BC to 800 AD. I agree, repulsive material. We already know that it is socially unacceptable to do any of these things, therefore a logical person would not. I find it humorous how the atheist are attacking parts of the bible that were written during times of social networks that we still do not understand. Absolutely, in today’s world it would not be acceptable to slay those who work on Sunday. It is not acceptable to murder children and wives of sinners, we will definitely not throw stones at those who commit adultery. I thank God above for the progression of human nature. Now if we could just realize that whether you believe in a deity, don’t believe, won’t believe, or want to believe, the only logical way is to just strive to live your life in a positive way and reap the rewards!

To the Author: Blaspheme is to slander, to speak impiously or irreverently of God or sacred things.
Do I believe that you will be punished for this? I don’t know, just like I don’t know if my God will punish me for not killing these “innocent” people for committing these sins that I too am guilty of. I also believe that we have lost the true meaning of Christianity and we have lost focus on what is important, love thy neighbor and treat one another as you would want to be treated.

Wow, GodsSoldier, what do you believe in? Why do you have to apologize for your God like that and his book? Are you saying that the bible is not relevant except for the parts that you think are relevant? You are not a critical thinker that’s for sure. Doesn’t it seem odd that this God writes a book that is totally irrelevant to the times when most people are living? Meant for a time when 99 percent of the worlds population did not exist? That is your claim.
As far as social networks go. We do understand the social networks from this time period and from time periods before. What makes you think we don’t? If you are claiming that this type of behavior which is condoned in the bible was okay for that time period then you are one sick puppy. Dashing little ones to death, stoning people to death for petty things that don’t matter. You are nuts brother.

    “… love thy neighbor …”

Sorry, I can’t. The motherfucker beats his dog, his children and his wife. I can’t love him, no chance.

It seems that the only subjects Bible suggests us to love are our neighbor and god. No the word “love” connected to any other subject in the Bible.

How strange! One would expect from god to tell us to love our parents, our children, pur wives, our friends, but no! Love is, in Bible reserved for god and neighbor!

Is Bible the word of god, Soldier?

“… parts of the bible that were written during times of social networks that we still do not understand.”

Who wrote those parts of the Bible?
Many Christians on this blog claimed that god himself wrote the Bible, and that Bible is the word of god himself.

    Do you accept that?

“I thank God above for the progression of human nature.”
    I don’t.
I thank human beings who were obviously more clever than god, and developed their moral code in accordance to THEIR needs, CONTRARY to god’s laws.
If god existed and wanted us to take his book as the very (and the ONLY) base of Christianity, he would have sequentionally changed its texts, or would have written somewhere, or found a way to tell us, that Bible is NOT soemthing we have to follow for ever.

How do YOU know which parts of the Bible are canceled?
    How can I know it?

    I know it without god.

    Thank you, evolution!

    You have 2 possibilities:
    1. God wrote the Bible, in which case, if he exists/existed, he is/was an idiot, who did not anticipate the development of morality of human beings HE created, but let them stay uninformed for thousands of years.
    2. Men wrote the Bible, in which case it is irrelevant for anything. Not a bit more relevant than Odyseey, for example, or story of Superman.

Which of these two you sign?

The juvenile part of the whole thread is atheists, who have no moral absolutes, claim God is immoral. That is calling the pot calling the kettle black. Crazy things like God murderers when murderer is taking innocent life that does not belong to you. Never mind God gave all life and gives and takes at His will.

It is difficult to carry on a discussion with atheists who refuse to be logical and refuse to confer on things rationally and honestly. They get so emotional and angry you would think they are the believers.

“They get so emotional and angry”

you’re on an atheist blog. who the fuck is crazy?

You are missing the point here friend… no one is claiming god is immoral, we say god is imaginary. The fact that the god described in the bible bears no resemblance to a supreme being who is the giver of absolute morality supports the idea that god, er, gods in general, are purely human constructs, imagined by men, who are imperfect and would be subject to the morality of the day. Why is the god of the bible depicted as a misogynistic, homophobic, genocidal, narcissistic bastard who has no problem with slavery? Because that would fit the characteristics of a warrior king of the time the stories were conceived and written.

God cannot be immoral because god is not REAL. Get a grip. A child can see that you have a lot of tap dancing to do to reconcile the biblical god with the personal god of love and peace that everyone wants him to be today. Dance away, but don’t get your panties in a wad when other people laugh at you. You do the clown dance, expect people to laugh.

Actually the God of the Bible is precisely what one would suppose in a Supreme Being. Atheists and other deniers like a simple God who is love and peace and just winks at anything they might carry out. Since God in actuality is not that simple they reject His existence.

However, a Supreme Being who is love, peace, patient, holy, righteous and will judge evil is a much more complex being that one would anticipate. The Bible says man is created in God’s image and man is more complex than peace and love. A Supreme Being would enact edicts to shield man from destructive lifestyles and the God of the Bible has this in His profile too. The suggestion that God must meet the ethics or man and not vice versa is the definitive chutzpah.

Yes, what I do know about God fits what any analytical mind would anticipate and then realizing too that we really only understand a very small part of God’s nature.

then spit it out, you fuck. a god that’s preoccupied with foreskins is laughable and not even anywhere near as badass as the powerful motherfucker, Odin.

you theists are so crazy. you’re not just content to wallow in your delusion. you just can’t help, but come in here and spout your bullshit.

    Really?

    Deuteronomy 20:10-14

“When you draw near to a city to fight against it, offer terms of peace to it. And if it responds to you peaceably and it opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall do forced labor for you and shall serve you. But if it makes no peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. And when the Lord your God gives it into your hand, you shall put all its males to the sword, but the women and the little ones, the livestock, and everything else in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as plunder for yourselves. And you shall enjoy the spoil of your enemies, which the Lord your God has given you.

This is really what you “would suppose” from a being so advanced and so powerful that he created the entire universe just with his thought?
Honestly, are you really THAT stupid?

    1. We would like to hear, in the first place, when and how did god give all lives. If you say so, you have, at least to try to explain it, although some evidences supporting that claim would be highly appreciated.
Did it happen according to Bible?

    2. It seems that your moral code allows someone who gives lives to take them back.
MY moral code respects lives, and I do NOT agree with a moral code which allows anyone, including god, to take lives.

LOL! Yes, of course it is because the god of the bible is a creation of man.

“Atheists and other deniers like a simple God who is love and peace and just winks at anything they might carry out.”

Translation: What I imagine about god is true. Your rejection of my belief is incorrect. I offer nothing more.

“Since God in actuality is not that simple they reject His existence.”

Rejection has nothing to do with simplicity nor rejection, but only evidence. You don’t have any. Therefore, your claim for your imaginary god is rejected.
