I was raised Mormon, and there’s a verse in the Book of Mormon (Mosiah 4:16) that specifically says to succor those in need and “ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his petition to you in vain,” but I guarantee, Temple Square in Salt Lake City is the least fruitful place on earth to be a beggar. Most Mormons are sickeningly stingy, unless they’re giving money to their own church.
