Horatio didn’t watch the video, apparently. Take his first point, for example: how do you reconcile the notion that for 98,000 years, humans have suffered before Jesus was sent to earth. How do you reconcile the notion that he was sent to the Middle East rather than, as Hitchens pointed out, the Chinese who are far more literate and rational? And that’s only two of his points that demonstrate how silly Christianity and its claims are.

Christianity didn’t take into consideration what was happening any where else in the world when it was constructed all those years ago. The bible is all about the middle eastern area where Jesus was supposed to have lived. Everything in it is stories about stories about the middle east. It has no credibility as a history book.
Xtianity still clings to the idea that it’s ideas are the only ideas about life and death. It tries to soften the blow about death by using a trumped up idea of an after life. Xtians fear death and are easily caught up in ridiculous claims about heaven and hell.
They have the audacity to claim that people who haven’t even heard of their cult will go to an imagined hell just because they’re not Christians.
This is the best case of “narrow mindness” I can think of.

Points well taken on amoral precedent of “vicarious redemption” and god’s ‘tardiness’ taking an interest in the species… but, doesn’t break down core delusions; “holy land is center of world, my god didn’t care about asia, so what?”. 98k years of suffering?… eh, those were subhuman creatures, pre ’sixth day’ divine intervention. Intellectual arguments too often preach to the choir. Hate to say it, but dumbing down a rational appeal is sometimes necessary. That said, I don’t know the context or audience…(NYU?) Amused by Jerry Springer-esque reaction shots. (”put the GAP ad kids in the front row…”)

God - you know him don’t you? He’s the guy - who from his own book - is a self confessed, multiple occasion, homicidal mass murderer. Just the kind of guy any rational person would want to spend eternity with in their loving embrace!

This is great. I love a good argument. It is funny so many people are duped into believing this bullshit throughout their lives and wonder why their life sucks.
I love hearing the believers say,’ It isnt atheists that go to the places of the world and donate time and money etc.’
So I ask, does one need the promise of a reward to do what is right to help those less fortunate? Does it need to be commanded by a higher power to help those in need? No it requires the desire to do so, the means(often funds) to do so and the time to do so. If you have those 3 things, by all means go for it.
