This page describes the step-by-step process of deconversion, from devout Christian to an atheist, in just 5 months:
It all starts with a question that, upon contemplation, makes no sense. For him the question was:
Why would God create a universe in which He knew, in advance, that at least 90% of the people in it would burn in Hell for all of eternity?
That is a great starting point, and there are many others as well, such as “Why won’t God heal amputees?” You can find a very popular set of 10 questions like this in the following video, viewed by more than six million people:
If you watch this video, it comes to a point where the politician is backed into a corner, and the only thing that people can do is laugh at him. His creationist beliefs are ridiculous:
There is a popular cartoon floating around the internet this week that says:
If Christians pick and choose only the good parts of the Bible… didn’t they already have morals prior to reading it?
This is a point that Christians and other theists seem unable to grasp. Either you believe and follow the Bible – the word of God – in its entirety, or you pick and choose. As soon as you pick and choose, you have created your own morality. How do you create it? How do you decide as a Christian that you will ignore the parts of God’s Word that condone slavery, misogyny, racism, homophobia, etc.? How do you make the claim to be smarter than God?
This article was mentioned in the comments and deserves to be read by both theists and atheists alike:
It is a humorous look at the “Intelligent Design” argument and demonstrates how very silly the argument is.
The video is entitled: “Neil DeGrasse Tyson Destroys Bill O’Reilly.”
Is that how you want to play this game? Because if it is, here is a list of things from the past that scientists didn’t understand… If that is how you want to invoke your evidence of God, then God is an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance that is getting smaller and smaller and smaller.
Even more important is the character of the person who would invoke such an ignorant argument. Tyson goes on:
What would bother me is if you were so content in your answer that you no longer had curiosity to learn how it happened. The day you stop looking because you are content that God did it, I don’t need you in the lab. You are useless…
When you learn learn how it happened, you are learning the truth. Those who follow religion apparently have no interest in the truth.

Have you ever asked yourself this question: Why are atheists so hated in the USA? How could a religion supposedly based on love harbor so much hatred for another group of fellow human beings? Here is the answer to this question:
You will never think about Christianity or Atheism in the same way after reading this.

An article on CNN today:
Plainly put, Rick Santorum wants to convert our current legal system into one that requires our laws to be in agreement with religious law, not unlike what the Taliban want to do in Afghanistan.
Santorum is not hiding this. The only reason you may not be aware of it is because up until his recent surge in the polls, the media were ignoring him. However, “Santorum Two” was out there telling anyone who would listen.
He told a crowd at a November campaign stop in Iowa in no uncertain terms, “our civil laws have to comport with a higher law: God’s law.”"
So, what type of nation might the United States be under Rick Santorum’s Sharia law?
1. Rape victims would be forced to give birth to the rapist’s child. Santorum has stated that his religious beliefs dictate that life begins at conception, and as a result, rape victims would be sentenced to carrying the child of the rapist for nine months.
2. Gay marriages would be annulled. Santorum recently declared that not only does he oppose gay marriages, but he supports a federal constitutional amendment that would ban them, invalidating all previous gay marriages that have legally been sanctioned by states and thus callously destroying marriages and thrusting families into chaos.
3. Santorum would ban all federal funding for birth control and would not oppose any state that wanted to pass laws making birth control illegal.
4. No porn! I’m not kidding. Santorum signed “The Marriage Vow” pledge (PDF) authored by the Family Leader organization, under which he swears to oppose pornography. I think many would agree that alone should disqualify him from being president.
The more you read about the man, the more angry any intelligent person becomes. And the thought that this man has people who vote for him is frightening. Just think about the content of this article:
On contraception: “Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that’s okay, contraception is okay. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”
This page explains why all rational, intelligent people fight against religion:
Rick Santorum demonstrates why religion must be dismantled.
This article shows how disgusting religion gets:
It wasn’t the first time that Doron Matalon had been verbally harassed on the way home. A young soldier, she had boarded a bus on Wednesday not far from the military base where she served. Shortly before reaching her stop, a 45-year-old man accosted her and demanded that she move to the back of the bus.
The man was demanding that Matalon comply with unwritten rules prescribed by ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel, decrees which require women to sit at the back of the bus or use different pedestrian routes or sidewalks than men do.
Matalon, however, had no intention of abiding by the edicts and refused to move — out of principle as she told the Israeli daily Haaretz. And because the back of the bus was stuffy. The man immediately began insulting Matalon, calling her a whore, and others quickly joined in the harassment.
Just about every religion demands that women take this kind of abuse. If it is not the Jews, it’s the Muslims with their hijabs, their burqas, their honor killings, etc. If it is not the Muslims, it is the Catholics and their refusal to allow women to be priests. If it is not sexism it is racism. If it is not racism, it is homophobia. ALL of this disgusting discrimination is constantly coming from religion. Why is that?
