Why did it take Jimmy Carter 60 years?

Why can’t Jimmy Carter, and all Christians, see this in 10 minutes?

Jimmy Carter leaves Southern Baptist church in protest to treatment of women

If you are a Christian, watch this video and then abandon your ridiculous “faith”:

Never forget the stupidity of the Bible

A brilliant letter addressed to Dr. Laura Schlessinger:

Letter to Dr. Laura

Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?

e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an Abomination (Lev 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?

g) Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?

i) I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev 24:10-16) Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan.

Always remember:

The key to this essay is its premise, not the pedantic details of it of how it is defended. Simply put, the letter points out a logical flaw in the “homosexuality is wrong because the Bible says so” argument: if homosexuality is wrong because it goes against God’s law as outlined in the Bible, why aren’t any number of activities now viewed as innocuous but once regarded as unacceptable also offenses against God’s law? How can one part of Leviticus be deemed as etched in stone when other parts have been discarded as archaic?

The amazing thing is that, even after seeing the obvious stupidity of the Bible, Christians will still publish videos like this:

Summer camp for the children of atheists

Glad to be godless

In most ways, it is like other summer camps. Kids aged 8 to 17 share cabins in the woods. During the day, they paddle canoes, shoot arrows, go swimming and explore nature. At night, they chat beneath the stars. Like other summer camps, Camp Quest satisfies a demand that springs from America’s combination of very long holidays for children and very short ones for their parents. Unlike other camps, it is staffed entirely by humanists.

The biggest problem with religion – many of its followers are arrogant idiots

The biggest problem with religion is that many of its followers are arrogant idiots who wish to force their definition of “morality” onto everyone else. A perfect example:

Religion is insane

The idea that this man has followers boggles the mind:

Baptist Pastor Prays For The Death of President Obama

You read that right — you see, he’s not PRAYING for Obama to die, he’s just repeating what God told him! So it’s like a game of telephone with a make believe outer-space deity, a crazy person, and the crazy persons disciplies! I’m not saying anything, what I’m doing is repeating what God is saying!

Why can’t Christians recognize insanity when it is staring them in the face?

Why hasn’t the secret service acted against this man?

If God invented marriage, why does marriage suck?

The system that we call marriage sucks. Half the people who get married end up getting divorced, as described hilariously in this video:

Yet Chistians firmly maintain that God invented marriage. The Bible clearly says that God intelligently designed marriage in Gen. 2:18, 21-24:

The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’…and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh.

Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

So if God invented marriage, why does marriage suck so bad? Why do half of marriages end in divorce? If you are a Christian, please do not say “human nature”, because God designed human nature as well in your mythology. God should have accounted for that when he designed marriage.

Nor can you say “free will”. God should have accounted for free will when he designed marriage.

Why would an all-loving God create a system that, for half of the participants, ends up being a living hell?

An atheist husband faces a significant challenge – how to free his wife from a delusional Christian cult

Here is the thread:

Husband hopes to free wife from Christian cult

The cult is called Iglesia Ni Cristo.

She doesn’t actually KNOW very much about Christianity, and her church’s doctrine basically repeats the same couple things:

1. If you are not a member of the church you will go to hell.
2. If you do not attend the worship service twice a week (yeah twice for these guys for more money I guess) you will go to hell.
3. “SUBMIT” to the church administration “appointed by god”

Actually they care more about you staying inside the church than anything else. The whole doctrine is structured around it.

See the thread for details.

The insanity that is religion – “blasphemy” is now illegal in Ireland

If you are any sort of thinking person, this makes your blood boil:

Ireland Makes Blasphemy Illegal

They have sacrificed one of the most sacred rights of a free people upon the altar of religion. It is insanity. There must be a way to overturn such insanity.
