Just curious, because I’ve seen Christians do that before, and was wondering if it was commanded in the bible.

I have an opionion that this guys is a politician who used Christianity for his own means. Simple enought right? Now follow me here.

The list I provided is not opinion, they are Biblical evidences. Now I don’t know our dear politician, but I do know getting laid and bragging about it contradicts that test (Goodness , Love, Faithfulness, self-control) along with other Biblical evidences. Sort of like John Edwards, huh?

Third step here, now follow with me. Based on what I have seen, he fails that test AND I conclude in my opinion, he is not truly a Christian. Could I be wrong? Sure enough God’s test is all that matters.

See, it really is quite easy. I admit, I have much less evidence to back if he is your daddy or not.

I’m hiving a difficult time resolving these two blatantly contradictory statements. Is it your subjective opinion or not. Make up your mind.

I suppose you mean that the list of criteria objectively exists, but you apply it subjectively to individuals to determine if they’re Christian or not. Is that pretty much the case? I’m going to assume it is.

Since one is going to share the exact same subjective opinion as you as to who follows those criteria, or if those criteria are even valid, you have thus failed to provide a method to determine who’s a Christian and who’s not.

So stop complaining about people having different opinions as to who’s a Christian and who’s not.

So, is it your opinion that the god character has different rules for rich people than poor people? That’s interesting.

Now, as for “selling all you have to be Christian”, please, do a little reading and stop parroting what you hear others atheist claim. I mean really, the silliness of the argument has been refuted countless times. Jesus made this command directly to the rich ruler who was bragging about all the laws he kept. Jesus also commanded a little boy to give him to two fishes and five loves…I’m surprised you haven’t resorted to that be a requirement.

And my comment about selling all your stuff and giving it to the poor was the path to your supposed Kingdom of Heaven as outlined by your supposed savior Jesus. I had assumed you’d read it.

So, have you sold all your stuff, or are you not a Christian? After all, you seem to think the statements in the bible are not subjective. So by your logic, since you are in direct contradiction to the words of the Jesus character, you must objectively not be a Christian. It’s there in black and white in your own rule book.

Your problem with politicians is that even though the politician behaves kindly, and joyfully, etc, the behavior is an act, and he doesn’t actually feel kindness and joy.

So now the question is how do you know if someone is a Christian if they could just be acting?

How would I know if you are a Christian? By your deliberate obtuseness and hyperbole?

If someone says that they’re a Christian, I’m in no position to contradict them. Christians make the rules as to what qualifies one as a Christian, not me. It’s not my job to play HR department for your religion. If you don’t like someone calling themselves a Christian, fire them.

You can make any judgement you like. I mean seriously, your opinion is your own. If you believe everything that you hear that is on you. The scripture, which you like to quote, states to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Not bad advice, huh?

So since you want people to decide who’s a Christian based on utterly subjective opinion, why are you complaining that we’re granting Christianhood on whoever we feel like?

Give me an objective test to determine who’s a Christian, and who’s not. Then give me an objective reason to believe that you’re correct and another person who claims to be a Christian, but doesn’t agree with you, isn’t correct.

And how do you know that Christians act with the qualities you cite? You’re already suggesting that politicians lie about their faith to get what they want, and that many people who call themselves Christians are not Christians. How then do you know how Christians act and feel if any one you point to could be lying?

Some criteria? How about love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control otherwise known as fruits of the spirit? I like this example much better since this is a sign for all christians.

Just a thought, but do you think it just might be possible for politicians to claim to be christians just to get elected? I know it sounds crazy but I throw it out there for discussion.
