If you know there is a God, who will judge you on your death, then acting for others is NOT altruism - it&#039;s selfishness.  If you know there is NO God, then acting for others IS altruistic - there is no ultimate reward for doing so.

As far as the debate goes, there was far too much summary and cutting for my liking.  I read it all in about ten minutes - and this was supposed to be four hours of conversation?  I can&#039;t form an opinion on who &quot;won&quot; - both sides appeared to fail to answer some specific questions, and its unclear whether this was because they HAD no answer, or because their answer was abridged or removed to save space.]]></description>
