Conservatives on the other hand just want to be lead and wont reject a leader no matter how bad he is unless he does something their previous leader would condemn, change is anathema to them.

The followers… well its a combination of gullibility, self complacency, stubbornness, fearfulness and downright stupidity. I recommend the book “The Authoritarians” by Bob Altemeyer.

The interesting thing is that this is pretty much a right wing trope. Liberals are, by definition, nonconformists and challengers, “herding cats” is a good analogy
