Original in the sense of "never before heard before"? Surely not, but politics its about effective policies not novel ones, but most liberals reach their opinions after much debate and consideration.

Conservatives on the other hand just want to be lead and wont reject a leader no matter how bad he is unless he does something their previous leader would condemn, change is anathema to them.

Schadenfreude: "I’ve never heard an original thought from a liberal. Just saying."

Being a life-long Republican, do you see any chance of tossing out the religious freaks who have gutted my party?

> why can’t these people see their own contradiction and hypocrisy when it is so obvious?

The leaders or the followers?

The leaders maybe do but don't care, their followers don't notice it.

The followers... well its a combination of gullibility, self complacency, stubbornness, fearfulness and downright stupidity. I recommend the book "The Authoritarians" by Bob Altemeyer.

The interesting thing is that this is pretty much a right wing trope. Liberals are, by definition, nonconformists and challengers, "herding cats" is a good analogy
