The people on board state that the big G was with them because the pilot made that impossible crash/ditch landing without more injuries.

Frankly, I believe that if this postulate were true, then why didn’t God keep the geese from flying into the engines in the first place. He could have saved the plane, the geese, and all the passengers, there would be no big cleanup, no wasted news coverage and nobody had to get wet or take another plane later. :)

actually, no. In the very same way I’d believe in alien abductions if I was abducted by aliens. In fact, I’m willing to believe in anything there is evidence for. Somehow, all religions have one thing in common. complete lack of any real evidence for their claims.
I realize that’s exactly the reason for their success, but it never ceases to amaze me that people are willing to think rationally in every other field of human endeavor, yet when it comes to spiritual matters we are supposed to suspend all rational thought. It’s even considered noble in some circles.

If *any* god spoke to me (not just the one you worship), I’d listen and I’d admit I was wrong. but amazingly, the millions of gods out there have never made contact. as a child, I fervently believed in the God of Abraham, yet despite all my effort, he never once spoke to me – and I have a pretty active imagination! I asked very clear questions and received nothing.
now I realize that teaching kids such nonsense amounts to child abuse. It took me years to overcome this unnecessary guilt as it does countless people who make it out of these cults in one piece. I for one am just thankful I did.
