“So until your precious 21st century science can cure cancer, or achieve warp travel, then there is no reason for me to join your ’science religion’.”

Even with gaps in our knowledge, 21st century science is more advanced than 20th century science, being that science builds upon what has already been learned.

Similarly, 20th century science improves upon 19th century knowledge and so on.

Not so religion.

Religion, in this case Christianity, actively seeks not to improve man's knowledge preferring to remain stagnated in the beliefs and explanations of a group of iron and bronze-age uneducated goat-herders. In this case, we are led to believe that all knowledge of consequence is bound up in a book of myths and legends. Hence, there is no need to look further.

Now, which of these groups do you think are more likely to cure cancer or achieve warp travel? I'll give you a hint - it will never, ever, be the goat-herders.

he says as he types on a computer connected to a global network....... hahaha

Until your precious religion can cure cancer, achieve warp travel, or I dunno, do ANYTHING other than pitch snake oil and bronze age superstitions, there's no REASON for me to believe ANY of it...
Why can't these idiots make the connection that even IF there was required an all powerful being to create the universe... would such an intelligence stoop to having himself crucified as an offering to himself to appease himself for our sinful nature? If such a thing as a god exists, we would at the least have to include he is an amazing mathematician and scientist. Would he be so petty as to punish us for eternity for the crime of not believing in, or worshiping him? Really??? Grow the hell up.

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. Various posters, Jim (above), 40YA etc start off with a claim to be agnostics or atheists then drop straight into arguments from the Christian playbook.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be an argument from authority but the fact that they need to label themselves as such is often (but not always) a giveaway that what follows is anything but an argument from the perspective they claim to possess. It's so transparent yet they do it.
