Brother 253.Anonymous, god loves all people equally. He does not favor anyone over anyone else, we are all equal under him.

Suffering occurs in our lives as a test to teach us to keep our moral values even in the face of danger or pain of anykind. If we succeed in staying kind, compassionate, loving, and forgiving people durring our time on Earth, we will go to heaven as soon as we die. But if we live greedy, prideful, hateful, or jealous lives, then we will spend some time in hell until we are sent to purgatory to receive another chance to be good people.

No, you don't understand that you don't understand.

We're too puny to comprehend why an all-powerful and all-loving god allows his subjects to suffer. Our brains would explode if we tried to understand why Yahweh pays more attention to American Football over, say, starving children.

You see, it's just a matter of having sufficient faith. Without the right king of faith in the right god bad stuff happens. It's not god's fault if we don't believe in him.

When things go well, it's god - no matter that it's indistinguishable from god not existing but that's proof that he does exist! Don't you get that? The Christian god is so amazing that he can make the world appear to operate as if he didn't exist. He's that damn powerful that he make it that he can never be proven to exist. Some trick, eh?

So why do bad things happen to good people? Well, that's a test of faith of course! Also, god doesn't want us to rely on him loving us, it's enough that we simply know he loves us and that he sends hurricanes, plagues, famine, droughts and stuff in order that we can know how life would be without his protection.

It's so simple and if only the atheists and those pesky scientists could understood that god loves them. Then they could stop looking for cures for crippling diseases and ways to make life better for everyone. Then we could all live happily in bronze-age squalor and ignorance, just like in the bible

The God of the proud and mighty? Where is the outcry from the poor and starving that are not healed? And why did millions of Christians die of the plague five hundred years ago? Has God reinvented himself into a modern day healing God that heals world class athletes so that His fame can be seen on TV? Is He so small and hidden that the only way to display his powerd is by telivision? Seems to me this God is egotistical to the utmost. If he really had love, his first mission would be to heal the sick children on earth, expecting nothing in return. And He would do it without the right-wing christian missionaries whose hidden agenda is to open up other countries to religion so the government can come in the back door and take over the natural resources and thus leave the people in worse conditions than when the supposed Christian God,with his missionaries, showed up.

I’m with Alex on it is all good. I do not mind hearing a different angle.

I have always been intrigued by the invisibles, intangible, unexplainable properties around us. For me there is a definite power and rhythm to it all.

There definitely are creatures that reason, but we are the supposedly the most capable on the food chain. I think I read somewhere that humans have a much stronger awareness of self than most any of the animals.

Chemical reactions don’t solve all the puzzles. I read about some research that maybe some of it is more like a vibration or wavelength.

There is a bird that lays its eggs and then the two parents with all the others migrate a few thousand miles away to live out their lives. When the parents leave with the other parents, they do not return. The eggs hatch, without parents, they grow up, they lay eggs and leave. They fly a few thousand miles over the ocean to the same island they have never been to before. There is no imprinting, it is a straight line, no circle. I like some things in this life to puzzle over.

Electricity for example is still the theory of electricity. We can make, store it, see it and control it. We do not know why it exists, what is it for in all of its form. I hope it was not put her to light New York City, lol. I enjoy a good unsolved mystery without doubt. It seems to be human.

It certainly would not bother me if animals were there and had a shot at things. I believe if we have an energy source or spirit, then they would also. But that is just my opinion. I am not a conventional Bible reader. There is a line back in Revelations which refers to the lambs lying down with the lions, but that is a deep one.

" I am okay with the elephants and other creatures that express these weird invisible things called emotions."

First off, they aren't weird and they aren't invisible. They are chemical reactions in your brain and nervous system, and since we share characteristics of out central nervous system with many animals, why would it surprise you that animals experience many of the same feelings we do? They see like us, hear like us, taste and touch and smell, just like we do. Weren't you the one who just a few days ago was telling us that humans were the only animals that could reason?? Now you're telling us that elephants understand death and feel grief over the loss of companion? Make up your mind. Do animals get an eternal life too? If not, how come, didn't god make them too?
