Bible is simple and complicated, it is a combination of „gods word“ and useless babblings that do not apply to anyone.
It is full of verses we know nothing about their purpose.
We do not know which verses to neglect and which ones to accept, to follow and to obey.
Bible is for Christians the source of „absolute truth“ and „absolute morality“, but we are not able to say or to show to others, which parts of it represent „absolute truth“ and „absolute morality“.

If Bible represented some unsignifcant book, a history book, or an ancient novel, it would be O.K. Who cares about Odyssey, for example, its reliability, wether it (the Odyssey) is or is not relevant, does it represent the „truth“ or not.
But the Bible is the book millions take as their life guidance!

Isn’t it dangerous to use such an untidy book, the book you can’t explain, you can’t distinguish what is it REALLY saying to you, as a life guidance?

I am not malicious, Boz, only VERY curious, and I posed very simple questions, because I like clear and understandable answers:
What is Jewish history doing in the Bible?
WHY is it there?
WHICH Biblical verses represent „absolute truth“, „absolute morality“, something we have to accept, follow and obey?
How to distinguish them from babbling irrelevant for Christians, unapplicable to you and me, like Leviticus?

I knew you were not open to the Bible but yet you continue to insist you are unclear on how to read it????????? As many times as I have read you long tirades you seem to have many problems with God.

The problems you bring up with Leviticus are really quite elementary, hermeneutics deals with things much more complex such as the so called dating inconsistencies in I&II Kings and such. I realize the atheist blogs float around the same verses so I understand.

You asked so I obliged, this time. The fact you have never been regenerated also aids in you lack of understanding. The Bible is clear the unregenerate mind cannot comprehend the things of God so I was limited on what I could provide.

Probably so for ones who love god. Not applicable to ones who do not believe there is god. You can not love something/somebody you don’t believe he/she/it exists.

But, as we saw (Boz), the problem is in recognizing what from the Bible is “his word” and what is not.
Which of “his words” apply on people, and people are obligate to accept and obey them, and which are only bullshits put in the Bible for who know what reasons (like Jewish history, laws and customs).

Atheists have no such problems. They don’t spend their lives in trying to distinguish between god’s words and god’s babbling.
They believe that such a noble creature, if exsisted, would do something better than that, so Bible must have been written by someone else but god. In which case it is NOTHING.

How much time do you spend improving you trade?

How many hours a day did you spend supporting a family?

If one “Loves God with all your heart strength and mind” He will he will spend a life time in His Word.

So THAT is the way to understand the Bible?
Spend your life in reading “manuals” that explain god’s words!

Did god expect all Christians to spend half of their lives in reading books in order to understand his words?
Couldn’t he do it in a little bit less complex way?
What with people who can’t read?
What with people who can only recognize the letters and words, but are not eductaed enough to understand whatt they read?

What with people who can both read and understand, but do not TRUST other people who interpret Bible?
Why would one trust some hermeneuticians and not trust his own eyes and mind? Or other educated people interpreting Bible their way?

Very complicated, very unnecessary!
I would expect from such an important book (the Bible) to be more than clear to anyone who can read (or listen).

Am I free to use some OTHER interpretations of the Bible to pick for myself what to accept/obey from the Bible and what not?
WHY can’t I (literate, educated) use my own logic to interpret Bible?
Is hermeneutics also god’s word, or what?
