Many people waste their time wishing away their lives anyways. “If only I had ten more dollars I could buy that flat-screen TV.” “If only I’d done this differentely then I wouldn’t have done blah, blah, blah.” I’ve done it before too. Some people are horribly hypocritical (I am too…I admit it) and some are simply optimists.

I’ll tell you the truth. I don’t pray much, and even if you asked me why I pray I’d give you the same answer I give to everyone who asks me why I do something: Cuz I choose to do so. If I wasn’t christian then I would be atheist but maybe its just that I want to believe that when I die my conciousness doesn’t just fade away into the crushing oblivion.

Perhaps the primary reason I pray and I believe is just because I want to believe in something. It might be that I as many human beings in the past want my conciousness to continue on for eternity. (even though nothing is eternal). But you do make a rather valid, if harsh, argument.

My feelings would get hurt because my prayers wouldn’t get answered, though. And it would then hurt more when I realized I could have been doing something else with my time.
