Why would anyone believe such nonsense?

In this article, a nursing home worker talks about God’s presence and help in the Waco explosion:

For saying this she appears in articles, the articles make it up to the national news level, her words “God shielded us” appear on the Drudge Report, etc.

How could anyone look at this gigantic catastrophe, with all of the death, injury and damage it has caused, and then claim that “God shielded us”? Rather than making it up to the national news level, why isn’t the woman seen by everyone as completely delusional? The only way to believe that God is shielding is to also believe that God is allowing everyone else to die and suffer in all of the tragedies we see. It is painfully illogical.

Here Pat Robertson demonstrates the utter irrationality of millions of U.S. Christians:

Robertson: God gives less miracles to ‘too-educated Americans’ who learn science

On Monday’s episode of CBN’s The 700 Club, Robertson responded to a viewer who wanted to know why “amazing miracles (people raised from the dead, blind eyes open, lame people walking) happen with great frequency in places like Africa, and not here in the USA?”

Any person with any common sense would ask, “You really believe that people are raised from the dead, blind eyes are opened, lame people are walking? Where is your proof?” If these things were really happening, there would be hundreds of videos on YouTube for all to see.

Why would anyone, in this day and age, believe a lie like this? Why can’t Christians accept reality?

Do Christians think about the things they say? The logical implications of what they say? A perfect example is presented here:

“I don’t believe they intentionally portrayed the Lucifer character to look like Mr. Obama,” the Christian radio host noted. “I think God guided the hand of the makeup artist and blinded the eyes of everybody on the movie set while it was being recorded, and the spiritual blinders were removed Sunday night when the program was broadcast nationally on the History Channel.”

“How many clues do we need from Heaven to understand that the man in the White House is a devil from Hell?”

If this God is so powerful, so willful and so interactive that he would “guide the hand of makeup artists” and “blind the eyes of everybody on the movie set”, then how in the world did Obama get elected? If Obama is the “devil from Hell”, how did Obama get re-elected? Isn’t God capable of guiding an election just as easily?

Christians who make statements like the ones seen in this article truly do appear to be insane.

Here we find a great example of the insanity of religion:

God’s existence addressed

Through reflection, study and reading the works of C.S. Lewis, Lee Strobel and others, Kraftson said he found solid answers to his questions early in his college career.

“Which brought up the question: What do I want to do with my life?” Kraftson said. “I graduated college in 1970, which some of you may recall was a pretty turbulent time in our country, but also a time when many were joining the Peace Corps and things like that.”

Having concluded that God exists and does have a plan for everyone, Kraftson decided to share that message through interacting with people.

“Having concluded that God exists and does have a plan for everyone…” Imagine the level of insanity it takes to look at our world and reach that conclusion. Think of the 10 million children per year who die of starvation, the millions more who die senselessly of cancer and heart attacks, the millions slaughtered in war, and the millions more who perish in natural disasters. God says, “yes, my plan for you is to grow to age three and then to be crushed when your apartment collapses in an earthquake.” Only insanity could see that as a plan.

How does he admit that God is imaginary? By admitting that the Bible is a book of myth:

The philosopher Paul Ricoeur suggests that there are three stages in a progressive approach to faith and holy texts. First we believe on a literal level. Then, as we learn more about science and history, our sacred “myths” are broken. But later still, as we reach maturity, we can once again embrace our traditions’ stories – precisely as myths, which define and bring beauty to our world. As Ricoeur puts it, “Beyond the desert of criticism, we wish to be called again.”

If the Bible is myth then God is imaginary. Then Fink goes one step further and invents his own god:

Neither the fire and brimstone fundamentalists nor the strident atheists believe in my God, who is the source of both science and the spirit. She is a lot more complicated and ambiguous than many would like. She does not speak in one voice or language. What she asks of me is not always clear. My calling, as a person of progressive faith, is to learn and live this.

What form of insanity is this? The reason why “what she asks of me is not always clear” is because it is the sound of insanity.

As we read this story, we witness a Christian rationalizing his delusion:

But enough pert answers and beating around the bush. Let’s cut to the chase.

The Bible says one thing and the theory of natural selection says something else. How can I or anyone believe both?

To be blunt, I can’t. I don’t believe the biblical account of creation.

I can’t believe, not because of my science background, but because the Bible doesn’t say one thing.

It says two. Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 offer two contradictory creation stories. Since the two different stories cannot both be believed, I rely on my God-given gifts of perception and reason for the facts.

I don’t believe the biblical accounts of creation, but I do believe IN them. A story that is not factual, can still show us truth.

Why is this rationalization? Because this pastor is admitting that the Bible’s creation story is nothing but a myth. Meaning it was written by ignorant men, like every other myth. Meaning that the God described is mythological. Meaning that God is imaginary.

The stories of creation teach us that all things find their source in God, that we are made in God’s image, and that creation is very good. We needn’t believe the facts of the stories to believe IN the truth they carry. Facts are to be seen, measured and tested.

The truth, like the Creator, is a person, not a thing to be grasped, but someone with whom to form a relationship — Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life.

He fails to see that the entire Bible is myth. You cannot “form a relationship” with a mythological being. It is embarrassing to think about this man, and billions like him, having their “realtionships” with their imaginary friends. How can adults behave in such a ridiculous way?

We find this quote:

[D]id you know that you are pre-approved for a free blessing right now? The Bible tells me so. If you have a need in your life, Jesus Christ can fix it — no strings attached. The price for your sin has been paid for you by Jesus, on Calvary’s cross. Things will get better for you; if you will only trust in him.

The good news is that Jesus Christ is a right now God, savior and friend. He brings to those who trust in him a right now blessing, love, forgiveness, hope and peace. He is a God who listens, speaks and moves on our behalf!

“If you have a need in your life, Jesus Christ can fix it.” Really? If that is the case, why doesn’t Jesus heal the millions of people who have cancer right now? Why doesn’t Jesus help the billions of people on the planet living in abject poverty? Why doesn’t Jesus save the 21,000 children who will die today [ref]? These people all need help. Jesus is omniscient, so he knows they need help. Yet no help will come.

The fact that someone can say, “If you have a need in your life, Jesus Christ can fix it,” while looking out at the world and seeing how mismatched that statement is with reality, demonstrates a form of insanity. It is quite obvious that God is not active in our lives.

We Could Use God’s Help – Where Is He?

What if we erase the slate and look clearly at the situation. Something terrible happens, people suffer, they implore God for help, but no help comes. If such a thing occurred when a house caught fire and the fire trucks never came, naturally the blame would fall on those who are assigned to rescue us. Is it fair to apply the same standard to a God who fails to show up?

Is it fair to apply the same standard to a God who fails to show up? Yes, of course it is. God is supposed to be omnibenevolent and perfectly moral. If God sees suffering and takes no action, then he violates these principles. There is no way that a perfectly moral being (who is also omnipotent) can see someone suffering and stand by without helping. This is explained by God himself (in the form of Jesus) in this parable:

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

If God exists, then “Go and do likewise” applies to God as well. The fact that God ignores all of the tragedy on earth proves that God is imaginary. Strange that Chopra cannot see that.

Some question if ChristianMingle will ‘find God’s match for you’

Some? Some question?

It might be the most audacious, and perhaps the most presumptuous, ad slogan ever devised.

“Find God’s match for you,” sayeth ChristianMingle.com, an online dating service that suggests in its advertising that its computer-generated matches are, well, made in heaven.

The slogan appears just about everywhere — on the Web, on TV, in your email box — suggesting that ChristianMingle may even have the Man Upstairs in its corner.

Which raises a few questions about ChristianMingle. Such as: How does it know who God wants to hook you up with?

The insanity of Christians is perfectly displayed here. They believe that God is all-powerful, omniscient. They also believe that God has a plan:

Yet they also believe that they need a dating site. The utter irrationality, delusion and insanity is over the top in this case.

Here is an article that claims God will never let you down:

God won’t let you down

So remember that regardless to what difficult and seemingly impossible situations are pressing in on you, just know that God won’t let you down because He is faithful.

Imagine the level of insanity it takes to make a statement like this. Every year, 10 million kids die of things like starvation. More than half a million Americans died of heart disease last year, and another half million of cancer. 100,000 people died in accidents. And then there are the mass murders at places like Sandy Hook school. Was God “faithful” in any of these deaths? Clearly not!

Whatever the cause of your crisis be it unemployment, marital problems, sickness, etc. although things around you and even your emotions change, God doesn’t because He is faithful….

So why are you worried? You cast doubt on God’s very nature when doubting the outcome after placing the situation in His hands.

God is true to Himself and His righteous nature. His word will produce the results of His promises due to His faithfulness to His word and you can expect the results of His promises when applying the word to your life. His promises are sure and trustworthy.

So think about this. You are sick, you pray, you go to the doctor. First, why do you need to see a doctor if God is faithful? Second, last year about 200,000 people who did see a doctor died in the U.S. because of medical errors. What wonderful, faithful God would allow that?

The only way to say “god is faithful” is to completely ignore reality. Where does this level of insanity come from?

According to Christians, Muslims, Mormons and Jews, God exists. Approximately half of the human population on earth believes in God or Allah. According to believers, this God answers prayers, performs miracles, reads minds, has ongoing personal relationships with believers, etc.

So, if this God really exists, why don’t we simply ask him to appear to the world and show himself? All these believers simply pray or relate to him, and ask that he appears to everyone in an undeniable form.

Why can’t God do this? According to the Bible, God appeared all the time in the past. He even incarnated himself. So clearly there is nothing “wrong” or “impossible” about God appearing. God even appeared on command in the past, as described in the Bible in 1 Kings chapter 18:

[22] Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the LORD’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. [23] Get two bulls for us. Let them choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. [24] Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire—he is God.”
Then all the people said, “What you say is good.”

[25] Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire.” [26] So they took the bull given them and prepared it.

Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. “O Baal, answer us!” they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.

[27] At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” [28] So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed. [29] Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no response, no one answered, no one paid attention.

[38] Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

[39] When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The LORD -he is God! The LORD -he is God!”

Why don’t we do the same thing today? Why wouldn’t God, if he is real, appear to the world? Then we could end all of this religious bickering and doubt once and for all.

If we read the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus makes it clear that he should appear to us if we ask him to. This video explains how in less than 5 minutes:

The fact that neither Jesus nor God appears demonstrates clearly that God is imaginary. Yet religious people refuse to accept this clear, unambiguous evidence. If you are religious, please use the comment area to explain why you cannot accept this evidence and continue to believe in your imaginary God.

Pope signals inter-faith alliance against gay marriage

Pope Benedict on Friday signaled the Vatican was ready to forge alliances with other religions against gay marriage, saying the family was threatened “to its foundations” by attempts to change its “true structure”.

The pope has no evidence for this. His approach is based in hate. Now, in his hate and insanity, the pope strives to find other hatemongers:

In some countries, the Catholic Church has already joined forces with Jews, Muslims and members of other religions to oppose the legalization of gay marriage, in some cases presenting arguments based on legal, social and anthropological analyses rather than religious teachings.

The pope expects the world to tolerate his insanity, but has no tolerance himself. The pope projects hate, and expects the freedom to do so, while denying freedom to others. This is a consistent mark of religious thinking.

The pope came out this week with an amazing proclamation:

Pope Says Gay Marriage Poses A Threat To ‘Justice And Peace’ In World Day Of Peace 2013 Address

Pope Benedict XVI said this week that gay marriage poses a threat to “justice and peace.”

Earlier this year, the Associated Press reported that the religious leader had denounced gay marriage as being “insidious and dangerous.” Previously, he had called same-sex unions “a threat to humanity.”

The pope’s idea is that if two people love each other and wish to be married, they are a “threat to humanity”, a threat to peace and justice, and they are “insidious and dangerous.” This, of course, is insane. Nuclear bombs are a threat to humanity – in fact, to all life on earth, if enough bombs are detonated at once and cause nuclear winter. Gay marriage is no threat at all – any intelligent, rational person can see that. The foundation of gay marriage is love. It causes no harm to anyone.

With these statements, we can say that the pope, and the people surrounding him, have lost their collective minds. And with this we can say that God is imaginary. For if God were real, and God were love, God would not allow such insanity to be uttered by the pope, who by definition is infallible. The Second Vatican Council states:

this is the infallibility which the Roman Pontiff, the head of the college of bishops, enjoys in virtue of his office, when, as the supreme shepherd and teacher of all the faithful, who confirms his brethren in their faith, by a definitive act he proclaims a doctrine of faith or morals. And therefore his definitions, of themselves, and not from the consent of the Church, are justly styled irreformable, since they are pronounced with the assistance of the Holy Spirit, promised to him in blessed Peter, and therefore they need no approval of others, nor do they allow an appeal to any other judgment. For then the Roman Pontiff is not pronouncing judgment as a private person, but as the supreme teacher of the universal Church, in whom the charism of infallibility of the Church itself is individually present, he is expounding or defending a doctrine of Catholic faith. The infallibility promised to the Church resides also in the body of Bishops, when that body exercises the supreme magisterium with the successor of Peter. To these definitions the assent of the Church can never be wanting, on account of the activity of that same Holy Spirit, by which the whole flock of Christ is preserved and progresses in unity of faith.”

Clearly the pope is insane, therefore he can not be infallible nor advised by an all-knowing “holy spirit”. See also:

Mockery outweighs piety after pope’s Twitter debut

“Part of the pope’s job description is to spread the word,” Greg Burke, senior communications adviser for the Vatican, said today. “Twitter is turning out to be a very effective way of doing this.”

“Twitter for us is not about the number of people following the pope but about getting people to follow Christ,” Burke said.

Why doesn’t Christ worry about getting people to follow Christ? Why doesn’t Christ get a twitter account and speak for himself?

Because God and Christ are imaginary.
